it's been interesting. >> john: when i think of my favorite country artist, people like hank williams these are people who sank from a place of pain, loneliness in a gave them their unique voice. has this whole saga impacted you creatively? >> i think living in the closet impacted me creatively. we'll see how this effects my songwriting as it is now. but i think i had--i was a raw nerve until i was 39 years old. that's got to, you know, really form someone's creative process. i'm a scorpio i'm a woman, and i'm emotional. i think i was always a very emotional songwriter, but i think being able to retire from the full-time job of hiding and believe me it was labor intensive. it has freed up some of my creative head space and that's what it's all about. >> john: my favorite thing about your story is that you held on your christianity. i'm someone who in my stand up who talks about that you can't use the bible who say same sex relationships are wrong. you really can't. parts of the bible who say it wrong are refuted dispelled and jesus doesn't say a damn thing about it. it doesn't say any

that was a valentine to the grand old opry tradition and hank williams.t was a beautiful piece we did just for film. this time he was on toure. here it is, one man on stage with his electric guitar. filling up massey hall with this extraordinary sound. i saw the show and said we have to film this. tavis: the way you shot this, and this is so inside hollywood, but it makes it beautiful. tell me about to the treatment you get to the subject. >> the two previous film we did, he is up there with a lot of other musicians. in heart of gold, there were 23 players on the states in part of what is magic is the way he interacts with the other musicians. we really capitalized on that and then with a smaller band we capitalized on this kinship and interplay. here we go on this tour ended this him along. we have lost one of our cornerstones, this interplay. now what we have gained is we can get our focus on neil young. we can dedicate the camera to his guitar. we can have three closeups that do not depend on tying in with anybody else. our goal was to make a film beco

>> reporter: most of the video was shot by william hank hawkins of prince georges county fire e.m.s. department and shows how dangerous it is to get close to a stream or river during a big rainstorm. the storms on friday were not constant. in some areas, the rain came in waves. during the low, three teenage boys were sign walking along the stream called the northwest branch, according to an eyewitness. a moment later, the rising water had captured the kids and carried them downstream to the 38th avenue bridge where all three managed to get to the center support structure where the water is somewhat shallower. emergency workers from prince georges county fire e.m.s. managed to get safety vests to the youngsters. the power of the water and the speed were too great for the boys to try to wade or swim to the shore. the 12-year-old kiros was watching. >> and would have pushed you back and some branches and going through. >> they could not have gotten themselves out? >> no. >> reporter: the fire department's technical services team didn't have much time to plan a rescue effort because the
