harold shapiro was inducted into france's legion of honor yesterday. harold shapiro earned two bronze hearts and now the mount washington resident holds a new medal and a new honor. >> i get a kick out of that. >> reporter: a knight in france's legion of honor. >> this was an award that was started by napoleon. this is the highest honor they pass out. >> reporter: harold was just a teenager when he arrived on omaha beach. almost seven decades later he's honored for playing a key role in the liberation of france over nazi germany. >> the minister in giving the award he gave a little talk about each one of the exploits. he mentioned about me participating in taking out soldiers out of a building. something had to be done, it has to be done. you don't think, am i going to get injured. it's just second nature. >> reporter: shapiro and two other world war ii vets received the honor in washington yesterday on the anniversary of d day. the equivalent to our medal of honor. >> congratulations. >> great guy. >>> without a trace, what police are saying today abo
