kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington is in pittsburg with the search for the driver who hit them.d morning. the mom and her kids were in this marked crosswalk when they were struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver. this crosswalk connects the delta de anza trail a popular trail for walkers and cyclists in the east bay city of pittsburg. now, this happened last night at around 6:00. we're also on crestview drive. the family was crossing the street when they were hit. the mother was pushing a stroller and kids riding their new bikes. paramedics were called to the scene and one child was airlifted to children's hospital oakland. police have not released any ages or any details on injuries. we also do not know how fast that car was going although i can tell you i don't see any visible skidmarks out here at the scene. police believe they have identified the suspect vehicle but have not made any arrests. early evening last night this accident happened so it was dark and even though the sun is coming out now you can see it is dark out here. there are no streetlights and no stop signs

kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington is in san jose this morning where that driver was killed in a crash>> reporter: good morning, this is where it all ended near blossom hill road and 101 and you can see a lot of police on scene. the driver flipped his car and ended up dead. this happened after 11. it started when a police officer attempted to pull an suv over at capitol expressway and tower lane. the officer walked up to the window and the driver stepped on the gas. the police officer said he had to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit and chased the car southbound on south 101. he had two other people in the car, was speeding. and the suspect lost control and crashed flipping his vehicle. driver died at the scene, the other passengers, two females, ages 16 and 17 were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. investigators have determined that the car was stolen and at this point they do believe that drugs and alcohol were probably involved. they are still investigating this morning. blossom hill road to 101 is closed to traffic. there are officers directing
