elissa harrington is in san jose where the chase ended with a deadly crash. all ended here on blossom hill road when the driver lost control and flipped several times. he was ejected from the creek and the 20 -- vehicle and the 20-year-old died at the scene. the car has been towed. they're getting ready to open up the road. this started late last night after 11 when an officer was doing a routine traffic stop. he had pulled over a different car and as he was at that window, he heard the sound of a revving engine. the officer turned around to see an suv speeding towards him. the officer actually had to to jump on the hood of his car to avoid getting hit. when he got back in, he pursued the suspect's vehicle. other officers joined in chasing the car for 6 miles through the streets of san jose. police say the drivers tried several maneuvers speeding at speeds up to 100 miles per hour slamming on his brakes and driving with his lates off. -- lights off. >>>

kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington has details on a home invasion overnight. >> reporter: good morning. investigators are inside the house and the search is on for the suspects. no arrests have been made but police believe that this family was targeted randomly during a home invasion. this happened around 3:40 this morning. a sergeant with the vallejo police department told me two men kicked down the front door to the two-story house on the mcdoug al street and headed upstairs. a 59-year-old woman lives here with her two adult children both in their 20s. the son woke up first and went into the hall to see what was going on. he was shot in the face. the mother then came or the of her room and was shot in the hip -- the mother then came out of her room and was shot in the hip. the daughter was shot but she was holding a pillow that shieldle her so the bullet only hit her finger. all three-family members were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries. police don't know why the house was targeted or if anything was taken. both suspects are armed and police say t

kpix 5's elissa harrington is in pittsburg to bring us the latest as police still search for a suspectorning, elissa. >> reporter: good morning. we know that those family members were in this crosswalk when they were hit and this crosswalk connects to the delta de anza trail a popular trail in the east bay. it runs for about 15 miles and leads to several parks in the area. the family members were on the trail and then in the crosswalk when they were hit. the mother was pushing a stroller and two children were riding new bikes. it was on crestview south of leeland. police are still searching for the driver and they have not said how fast the car might have been traveling. the three children are in the hospital. this happened at 6:00 last night. it was dark at the time and you can see there is not one streetlight at this intersection. there's also not a stop sign before the crosswalk. we'll get some more details later on this morning when a sergeant returns to the department. elissa harrington, kpix 5. >>> a north bay woman is behind bars this morning accused of killing her mother. polic

reporting live in san jose, elissa harrington, kpix 5. >> okay. thank you, elissa harrington.s building on monterey near bellevue but again, as elissa mentioned all lanes are open. all streets are now open there in san jose. so we have a new problem spot now in oakland where they may have issued a traffic alert northbound 880 right by that oak street exit. right now we have one lane blocked. for a while there were multiple lanes blocked. one of the left lanes is blocked as well as that oak street off-ramp. it's an accident multicar crash also involving a garbage truck. the problem is there was a lot of glass debris in lanes taking a while to clean up. injuries are reported, as well. at last check kcsb airborne flew over and says it's backed up towards 29th a couple of exits so use 580 in the meantime as a best bet. on the maps, also on 880, southbound 880 in fremont, this is approaching mowry avenue, we are watching a motorcycle accident blocking up to two lanes. again airborne flew over the scene and says it's stacked up toward dakota road. we have two major problems on 880.

kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington is in vallejo this morning where the suspects are still at large.r: good morning. i just spoke with the sergeant with the vallejo police department who said this appears to have started as a home invasion and that the family that lives here might have been targeted randomly. this happened around 3:40 a.m. two armed men kicked in the door to this house on the 1500 block of mcdougle street. they started to make their way upstairs. a mother and her adult children live here. the son heard some commotion so he woke up and went out into the hall to see what was going on. he was then shot in the face. the 59-year-old mother came outside of her room and was shot in the hip. then the daughter in her 20s also came out and was shot. she however was holding a pillow that actually shielded her so the bullet only hit her finger. the two men then ran from the scene. they are both armed and police are actively searching for them. the only description we have now is that one was black, the other hispanic male wearing a hoodie. police have not said what the men might

kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington is in pittsburg with the search for the driver who hit them.d morning. the mom and her kids were in this marked crosswalk when they were struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver. this crosswalk connects the delta de anza trail a popular trail for walkers and cyclists in the east bay city of pittsburg. now, this happened last night at around 6:00. we're also on crestview drive. the family was crossing the street when they were hit. the mother was pushing a stroller and kids riding their new bikes. paramedics were called to the scene and one child was airlifted to children's hospital oakland. police have not released any ages or any details on injuries. we also do not know how fast that car was going although i can tell you i don't see any visible skidmarks out here at the scene. police believe they have identified the suspect vehicle but have not made any arrests. early evening last night this accident happened so it was dark and even though the sun is coming out now you can see it is dark out here. there are no streetlights and no stop signs

kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington is in san jose this morning where that driver was killed in a crash>> reporter: good morning, this is where it all ended near blossom hill road and 101 and you can see a lot of police on scene. the driver flipped his car and ended up dead. this happened after 11. it started when a police officer attempted to pull an suv over at capitol expressway and tower lane. the officer walked up to the window and the driver stepped on the gas. the police officer said he had to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit and chased the car southbound on south 101. he had two other people in the car, was speeding. and the suspect lost control and crashed flipping his vehicle. driver died at the scene, the other passengers, two females, ages 16 and 17 were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. investigators have determined that the car was stolen and at this point they do believe that drugs and alcohol were probably involved. they are still investigating this morning. blossom hill road to 101 is closed to traffic. there are officers directing
