elissa harrington is reporting live. this fire is forcing evacuations and destroying homes. >> reporter: good morning, gasia. i want to take you to solano county where we have a photographer in vacaville and one of the neighborhoods greatly impacted by this fire. we are along english hills road. this is a home that burned to the ground yesterday when flames raced into the area. there are a couple of spot fires burning in that area. you can see that property smoldering. the fire is making runs in different directions. this is why there are so many communities impacted. fire officials are urging people to pack up important items i be prepared to leave. these fast-moving fires jumped interstate 80. the fire was on both sides of the road while people were stuck and were read. >> will call close that smoke is. i don't know how close that fire risk, but i've never been in this situation before. >> make the decision to please leave your home. the last thing we want is for people to be trapped in their homes and not be able to g

ktvu's alyssa harrington is here to tell us what the numbers mean. good morning, alyssa. >> reporter: u.s. employers added 1.8 million jobs last month, that is more than some economists had predicted but it is nothing compared to what we saw in june, where 4.8 million jobs were added. it appears that the country is losing momentum. a lot of that has to do with covid-19 and the surgeon cases that we saw in july. today's report will put pressure on the white house to speed up negotiations on another stimulus package, so americans can get a new round of checks. republicans are accused of refusing to meet in the middle, the big issues being discussed is whether or not bailouts will be offered to state and local governments and what to do about the $600 boost and unemployment benefits. the president had tweeted that he is working to notify a staff to continue working on an executive order, but there are limits to how much a president can do. >> and executive order will leave millions of people out. it will be litigated, it will not be effective. things wi

alyssa harrington is here now with more on the changes this year. good morning, alyssa. >>> it will look different this year, the championship is being held at harding park in san francisco. i want to show you live video from outside of harding park. this after the pga championship was delayed for three months. the earliest tee time for round one starts at 7 am today. an event like this typically attracts tens of thousands of fans, a huge boost for the local economy of the host city. this year there will be no fans. san francisco restaurants hope that people join them to watch the championship. tables and chairs have been set up outside, and spread far apart to keep guests distanced with large monitors to watch the events. >> you hope to see an uptick in reservations, and see people that are excited and that there is an energy and the city and that people can go out. we are doing a couple of events this weekend, we are hoping that we pick up extra seats, as people are in that mood. >> if you have reservations for saturday, everyone loves tiger. it i

i am elissa harrington, ktvu, fox 2 news. >>> new this morning, a big fire in st. paul, minnesota tore through an unfinished building this morning. right now, cruise arm mopping up looking for hot spots. this started near 1:00 a.m. our time. it engulfed the building that was under construction. there is no word of injuries or how that fire started. >>> meantime, the apple fire is still burning in southern california. it has burnedmiles. it is only 47% contained. it started last friday. it forced evacuations northwest of palm springs. evacuees are being screened at shelters for covid-19. some are being redirected to hotels. at least one home was destroyed by the fire. hundreds more are in danger. >>> people who evacuated in colusa county because of a big wildfire are allowed to go back home. the mandatory evacuations from the sites fire are now lifted. however, evacuees are being warned to evacuate again if necessary. this fire has burned 60 miles north of clear lake, at least 560 acres have burned. it is 55% contained. >>> let's check back in with steve paulson. i
