this morning a bill that would bail out the philadelphia school district takes center stage in harrisburg this week. the district is urging lawmakers to pass a cigarette tax to help close an $81 million budget gap. and nbc 10's jesse gary is following the school budget crisis for us this morning. jesse, what will it take for this bill to pass? >> reporter: well, vai, before the bill can pass, it has to be put on the house's calendar. and the sponsor of the bill says time is of the essence. >> we have a very short calendar period in which to vote, about six days i think that we're going to be in session. so, we have to be -- a bill has to be listed "x" number of days, three days, in order for to to be voted upon. >> reporter: state senator anthony williams says he'll start lobbying gop lawmakers in harrisburg for the need to move quickly on the cigarette tax bill. the funding would help the philadelphia school district bridge a budget shortfall of tens of millions of dollars. williams says if political infighting, apathy and mistrust can be managed to a minimum, the cigarette tax bill coul
