harry enten, how are americans feeling and what are they telling us this this poll?teresting poll. let's start off here, change of financial situation over the past year, this is the key number, worse off now, 49% of americans say they are worse off than they were a year ago. compare that to when we asked this question last year, only 33% of americans said they were worse off. the worse off is about the same, 33%, 16% which adds up to 50% so a mixed picture, right? why are americans concerned about the economy at this point? it all comes back to the cost of living. so very concerned about cost of living, 63% of americans say they're very concerned. the other thing i'll note here is the 42% who say rising interest rates so it's cost of living and as well the rising interest rates which is why americans feel not so fond about the economy at this point. >> the two biggest concerns, cost of living and interest eights so, matt, how are we seeing that reflected? >> we are seeing some signs of financial stress. vanguard says the share of retirement savers who were taking mo

with this morning's numbers, cnn senior data reporter, harry enten.. >> good morning. >> what is it? republicans are liking this musk twitter takeover, right? >> they love elon musk. take a look. this is an nbc news poll, a view of musk after buying twitter, republicans versus twitter. look at the positive among republicans, 53%. just 9% of democrats have a sfaifable view of musk. the vast majority, 64% have a negative view. this is the type of split you might see of a republican politician, maybe donald trump in his early days running for president. compare this to where we were back in 2017, back when the tesla model 3 launched. look here, favorable democrats versus republicans, republicans 37%, but democrats were at 47%. democrats viewed musk more favorably back then. keep in mind, of course, when it comes to electric cars which is what musk used to be known for, that along with spacex, 65% of democrats favor phasing out gas-powered cars. as musk goes back to the twitter guy versus the electric car guy, the views have changed. >> any of these numbe

cnn's senior data reporter harry enten joins us with the answer. do tell, harry.king at my crystal ball right now. i'm just looking at some polling. what we essentially see if you ask the general electorate at this point whether or not joe biden deserves re-election, look at that. just 38% of all registered voters say yes. 61% say no. obviously, that 38% not exactly that high. though i have even seen polls that were worse for biden and this is perhaps up a little bit. but perhaps even more interesting than that, take a look at the primary electorate. take a look among democratic voters. should joe biden in fact be the nominee for the democratic party or should it be a different candidate? look at that. only 40%, only 40% say yes. 59% of democrats, democrats say it should be a different candidate. i should note, though, again, this 40% is slightly higher than we had earlier this year when it was about 25% of democrats. so perhaps the trajectory is going up for biden even if the absolute number is not where he'd want it to be. >> how does it look when you match bide

harry enten joins us with this morning's number. good morning. >> good morning. thinking of how frequent it is that twins actually go into the same professional field. it turns out that 25% of the time they do at least when they're the same gender. compare that with 15% of siblings who are the same gender born within two years of each other or 9% of strangers who are born within two years of each other. so, far more likely to go in the same profession if in fact you are twins. let's dig into the data more. this all got me thinking when i saw this story, i think there are more twins than there used to be. the twin birth rate per 1,000 births is way up from where it used to be. it is now 31.3 of every 1,000 births. compare that to 1980, when it was just 18.9 per 1,000 births. the peak was in 2014. we're still pretty close to the peak, well more than we used to be. now, why is it that we have more twin births than we used to have? well, there are a bunch of different reasons, but i think there are a few potential ones i want to point out. there are more older moms.

let's turn to harry enten for this morning's number. >> this morning's number is tesla stock price changes number is 62. from $410 at the peak now to just $158 per share. why has tesla's stock price fallen so much in there are a bunch of different reasons. there are overall market problems. the market is down altogether. production problems in china, and musk buying twitter, tesla is down 30% since then. let's look at musk individually. he is obviously the man who runs tesla and we can see here, take a look at the worth of the two richest men in the world right now, elon musk down to 161. look at where they were 13 months ago. they're basically at the same level, $170 billion. look at elon musk's worth, though. it was at $340 billion. it is now down to $161 billion. obviously i'd like 161 billion. we're talking about a nearly 200 billion loss in his net worth because tesla is down considerably. electric cars are only 2% of the market at this point. that's something we have to keep in mind talking about this. most people still have a gas car. >> for now. >> thank you for the number, harry.

let's turn now to our senior data reporter, harry "data" enten for this morning's number.four players out there that are now out for acl injuries. what's going on here? is it on the rise? coincidence? >> i love these kind of questions because there's kind of great mysteries. one of those, vaughn miller, who is a big player on my buffalo bills hurt my heart. here are the -- this is not the official nfl data but according to "usa today" at least 40 players are out with acl injuries with four regular season games to be played. past data shows that 2021 had more acl tears than any other recent season. that far eclipses the previous season in 2018 with 57. it does seem in 2021 the acl injuries were on the rise. we'll see when the official data is produced in 2022. at least in 2021, it did show acl injuries were rising. in. >> is artificial turf really a factor here? >> yes. >> so the nfl says that there's now no difference between turf in grass but there was one pre2020. the nfl player association sites the same data to say grass is safer. but there's no doubt historically surf
