now senior data roeporter harry henton is here to break down where these races stand. you're one of the hardest working people at cnn. help us break this down. where does the house stand if everything continues to trend in the same direction it is right now. where does that leave us? >> it leaves you with a very narrow republican majority. so right now if you basically say, okay, you take the leaders in all the races where do you stand? you stand republicans at 221 to democrats 214. but that is well within any margin of error, right, because there are a bunch of races that we haven't called yet. and i'll be honest with you a week ago at this time the fact we would still be talking about who would control the house and not know it as a mathematical certainty is something i truly did not envision and is truly one of the more shocking things i've seen in all of my years following politics. >> well, you're right. many people are surprised because this is not what was expected. but here we are. from the data where are some places that potentially democrats could make up som
