he was a law professor at harvard and became a supreme court justice. this is his private library in washington d.c. i liketh m this picture for a lot of reasons. i love the idea of sitting in the chaire in the middle of this room. no doubt he was inspired and you could imagine him reading a book i think a lot about what kind of a learning environment are we creating for kids like this particular environment here. what would it be like for these kids to have a place where there would be inspired the same way mr. justice wood in this particular moment. i'm imagining that it won't look exactly the same. maybe they too would be inspired by this kind of a space. space. when i was a library director and thinking about the kids at andover today, it's clear to me that when kids go to a library they don't do a whole lot of this. at harvard law school library in the library are high school, the libraries are very full. they're packed with kids elbow to elbow, doing their work and homework but they're not taking a lot of books off shelves. they have their compute

we spent millions digitalizing the harvard sections but it is hard to find them. one of the dreams that i have is that the digital public library will have a system where you can scan and go. i didn't think this about but the idea behind this goes that we would get winnebagos and outfit them with scanners in the back and you can imagine retired librarians or volunteers or students driving across the country in the cars and they would pull up saying bring out your scans and people bring out unique photographs or books or images and they would get scanned in the back and the librarian or the person driving it could figure out who is in the meta data and you can imagine the rights of driving this. i have written a letter to the head of the winnebago company who was not written me back so we might have to call it the airstream something or other. but you get the point. there is across our country, this amazing store of knowledge and information and in the digital digital age there is no reason it has to be cooped up and local and i think we could have a resource that

the first puerto rican to graduate from harvard, harvard law school. i went to the library the pantheon of the pantheon books, 50 some of the books. at the time in the card catalogs, i went through eight, nine floors. there wasn't one book on pedro. i found that striking. if anything it inside my curiosity at a point in college i found for me college at least at harvard had an abundance of options and opportunities that not much guidance. you can pretty much find your own way. that's a great place for a self-starter. i took a year off to find some of that i spent the bulk of it visiting family in order become. particularly -- i encountered a nationalist in my family who i've known pedro campos party will. he was one of his bodyguards were could have done when he came back in 1948. so when meeting led to another. i start hearing things that were astounding, like a james bond movie to things are going on in puerto rico. it was not fully documented at the time because the fbi was maintaining the secret police files on over 100,000 puerto ricans, but did n
