i was working on my last book, the lady and her monsters and i was browsing the harvard university library. they have wonderful online collectionses and i was looking for information on the body snatchers for my last book so harvard has a beautiful collection on broadsides, body snatchers, all kinds of creepy, wonderful, beautiful stuff i was interested in. i didn't find anything that tied into my topic gut the search engine on harvard library brought me to a different collection that had nothing to do with my topic, but was interesting as well. it was the collection from a detective from the 1860s, a boston police detective his name was james woods and i love detectives. i love detective stories. i was teaching a class many years ago at leslie university and i've taken many classes and he seemed interesting and fun and a lot of good things that perhaps would come out of it, and one of his cases at harvard has a very long list of cases that he worked on, and one of his cases was the jesse pomeroy case and in fact he said it was the youngest -- one of the youngest serial killers he worked o
