so when harvey had these workshops, he had this successful moment in experimenting with glass. he returned to his campus in wisconsin and set up the first university program in the country for teaching glass blowing others. would then follow while you still see in many people's work the focus on the traditional form like the vessel. you also see this tremendous range in which people are working today and very sculptural way and abstract ways. i mean the possibilities with glass of really just kind of exploded in the last 15 almost 60 years from its beginnings until now the glass industry has diversified. however, the base is still here. we still love our libby glass and this beautiful glass pavilion that i'm standing in is very much a monument to the marriage of industry and beauty it's a wonderful testament to our toledo's history and that fundamental history of glass. you can watch this and other programs on the history of communities across the country at c-span.org cities tour. this is american history tv only on c-span 3. you're watching american history tv all weekend eve

>>welcome back to the kron 4 morning news, i'm reyna harvey lets get another check. >>weather with john trouble this morning because there's a lot going on a lot of rain and a lot of accidents john yeah that rainfall definitely results and some slick conditions out there which is likely going to slow you down it should slow you down as you make your way into work this morning saw some heavy areas of rainfall last night too that does mean some standing water on roadways this morning, a look outside from our towercam shows relatively dry conditions in san francisco for the time being now showers will be on and off today last night we saw some of our heaviest and most widespread of rain and we're still in the midst of some widespread rainfall for inland valleys here across the bay you can actually see the center of this low pressure area, this cold core low that is making its way down on to the bay we are seeing with it some heavy snowfall in the sierra nevada and some snow up in the coastal rain just to our north and as for the bay area, mostly tell you head to the hig

>> welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news of rain on harvey. lets get another check of weather this morning with john trouble. >> and john, we have a lot of changes happening. like maybe you at home. didn't get a full night's rest because we have to wake up a little earlier. how are you feeling over there, it is the hardest monday of the year for every way. and we've got lie. and if i said i got a lot of sleepless night. how about you? >> it was a struggle to know a little bit power through. we're going to power it will happen. it will happen. will eventually adjust to this whole, getting up an hour earlier thing daylight saving time. if you haven't already make sure to just those clocks before you get all confused today as you head back into your work week. now this morning we are looking at least calmer conditions as you venture out onto roadways. we saw widespread rain all afternoon yesterday on into our evening hours last night. and we're still seeing a few showers out there this morning but not near as widespread as where they once were lo

it's monday, march 15th reyna harvey. you know, we have to start with a check of weather this morning. i don't know if you caught it yesterday, but it rain and a lot of areas across the bay area, certainly outside of my house and so i stayed in john yesterday yeah. where will the morning was the time to get out there and then the afternoon hit rain moved and we saw some cloudier skies and those winds really picking up too. so it's definitely the day of the weekend to have spent a little bit more time indoors than it was on saturday friday which were obviously the little clear little drier and warmer too. >> you look outside this morning under center tower, cam shows you relatively clear conditions this morning. it certainly has calmed down rain wise from where we were earlier looking outside at radar. we do have a couple of sprinkles lingering for just a few areas the day we're going to start in the south bay. look at all that blew up in the blues just east of san jose as skies clear out today, you're going to notice even

good morning and welcome back to the kron 4 morning news of reyna harvey.e have to get another check of weather this morning with john sabol who tells me there's a lot of sunshine on the horizon. yeah. we are looking at. >> kind of a mixed bag out there. rain and today is going to one of those dry days, though. so good. want to take advantage of venturing outside before showers push in on idto tomorrow and early into friday. it's good to see a little bit of both of those. i like the mix. at least we need the rainfall. she also need those dry days just to step back outside for a bit. you look outside right now does show some dry conditions at sfo in some pretty clear conditions at that as well. it's going to be an easy morning commute as far as weather is concerned, as far as traffic goes, it's a different thing. entirely. we are looking at low cloud cover pushing in over the bay. but for the most part, it's staying right above us. so not really resulting in any issues as far as visibility goes for most areas. as for temperatures 30's in dublin livermore as

>>i'm ray to harvey let's start this morning with a check on weather with john tribal so john thankfully i didn't catch any rain on my drive in to work today yeah, so dry drive so far for most of our commuters but we will see. >>scattered showers on the way into work for most of our later morning drivers we are looking outside of some relatively dry conditions at the moment, so if you do need to leave the house maybe a little bit early certainly not a bad time to be doing so let's get you a look outside at our center tower cam right here and you can see out there we do have clear enough conditions looking down from stitcher tower at san francisco, doesn't look like a rainy start to the day. but we do have shower activity immediately to our north and to our west you can see that. shower activity is pretty isolated in nature, so even if you do see a round of light rainfall moving overhead. that's not to say it's going to stick around for too terribly long so we are looking at showers immediately to the west of us if we actually get this moving here just a little bit we will be able to see
