missouri democratic incumbent claire mccaskill and hurt republican challenger josh hawley are tied at 43%. that's the same number as october and the variables are almost evenly split as well. men break for quality, women for mccaskill although it appears more democrats than republicans are extremely interested in the election, even though 54% of likely missouri voters approve of the president's job performance. in north dakota, the incumbent heidi heitkamp's trailing republican kevin kramer by nine points, her latest on from early october but still above 50% and many more north dakota ends identify as republicans plus donald trump won north dakota by 36 points. finally, tennessee. in the race to replace retiring g.o.p. senator bob corker, republican marsha blackburn is pulling away from democrat and former tennessee governor phil broadus. up 50 to 41%, she was only up by five in early october, tennessee identifies as republican by a 20-point margin but taylor swift just threw her support so you never know. >> shannon: you never know when celebrities get involved, thank you very much.

josh hawley defeated two-term democratic incumbent claire mccaskill. >> hawley touted his support for president trump during the campaign. abc's deborah roberts has more. >> reporter: democrat claire mccaskill's loss here says as much about the president as it does about the state of missouri. >> i want you to keep that fire burning because there is justice around the corner. >> reporter: the two-term senator lightly positioned herself as somebody willing to work with the president even distancing herself from her democratic party in some ways. but in the end it was not enough to overcome a republican challenger who had the backing of the president. in fact, president trump was just here visiting just a couple of days ago throwing his support. the president is wildly popular in this area. he carried missouri by nearly 20 points, so it was a very difficult uphill battle. she knew that this would be tough and she said so today while she went to cast her ballot, that it might be a nail-biter but no one expected her to lose by such a large margin. the two-term senator denied a third term.

new nbc news marist poll is showing democratic candidate claire mccaskill leading republican josh hawley by three points. andrew gillum is leading ron desantis by four points. bill nelson leading by four over current governor rick scott. indeed i new quinnipiac poll those gillum and nelson both leading their respective races by seven points. and in what's become a closely watched senate race across the river here in new jersey, a new quinnipiac poll out today -- this was surprising -- shows democratic candidate bob menendez who has dealt with profound ethics and legal problems leading bob hugin, his republican challenger, by 15 points. in georgia, in that hotly contested race, from emerson college released friday, shows brian kemp leading stacey abrams. democrats have a 7-point advantage when it comes to control of congress, the so-called generic ballot. we're also getting a look at some new job approval numbers from trump just ahead of an election that is widely viewed as a referendum on his presidency so far. our nbc news "wall street journal" poll reveals this his approval is at 46%.
