i'm chris hayes. donald trump cannot stop losing the courts.ay yet another federal judge ruling against the ex-president, and now the man trump's angry mob wanted to hang is ordered to share what he knows under oath. this afternoon a judge with the u.s. district court for d.c. ruled that mike pence must cooperate with the subpoena from special counsel jack smith as part of smith's investigation into donald trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 election. notably, the judge ruled that pence will not have to testify above matters pertaining to his role as president of the senate on january 6th. but he will have to provide testimony about trump's attempted coup more broadly as well as any potential illegal actions by the ex-president. pence has previously vowed to fight this vee subpoena all the way to the supreme court if need be. so it is likely he will appeal the ruling. but we'll see. but as of now it stands. and of course this order from a federal judge comes less than a week after a separate federal judge ruled that someone else close to trump

i'm chris hayes. nbc news -- manhattan district attorney alvin bragg will convene the grand jury investigating president donald trump tomorrow. as you may know, the grand jury was supposed to -- there was much informed speculation that we could see an indictment handed down, following that meeting. but that did not happen. these proceedings were canceled. and i will be completely honest with you. we don't really know why. it is possible there was a procedural delay. there are some saskya latium that bragg wants the grand terry to hear from a final witness. whatever the reason, it seems plausible there could be some movement after tomorrow's hearing. despite spending the weekend crowing on social media that he would be arrested yesterday, donald trump got a temporary reprieve today. because, you know, despite all this weird tough guy posturing, leaks to the press about how he would turn a perp walk into a media circus, trump ultimately, i think, understands that getting indicted is a bad thing. i mean,
