i think it is really important, as it has been over chief hayes white cha-cha-cha near to have a chief coming up over the ranks. familiar with our department and familiar with our city. this will be an important time of transition on the labour and management side going forward the next couple of years. we will have a new president of local 798, i'm very happy to see him step into that role. you will have an opportunity to build a fresh relationship with a new chief from the get go and i think it would be good if both sides had some familiarity with themselves that build a productive labour-management relationship within our department. we won't agree on anything. it is inevitable. there will be conflicts. if we have a common frame of reference, it will make both sides both productive and make us better as a team, able to serve the citizens of san francisco. and i would hope that we can make this transition happen as quickly as possible. that is all i have to say. >> thank you. any further public comment? see none, public comment is closed on the item. do you have any comments on this

aaron peskin from district three, thank you, and kathr kathrin stefani, and carmen chu, and joanne hayes-white is here, and. >> president cohen: we now have a coquorum. >> supervisor mandelman: we know have a quorum, and we're in violation of the brown act, and we're now going to jail. in 1978, harvey milk said his election would give people two new options. move to san francisco was one or stay and fight, and they did both. and a few weeks ago, we had this great, wonderful blue wave that we're all still sort of basking in. but part of that blue wave was 150 out lgbtq people who were elected to positions around this country and that is worthy of some applause. i -- we're all revealing our ages here. i was five years old when harvey milk and george moscone were killed. i don't remember that moment, but i learned about them as i grew older, and learned about them at a time before i knew i was a day man. but i became -- i was proud of them as a san franciscan, and so before i even knew to be proud of myself, i was proud of these two men and what they had done. it's a tremendous honor to hold the

being part of the 100 person wedding, many years ago, or anjali working side-by-side with chief hayes whitethe cases of emergencies, every single one of the memories that you made with the mayor, the conversation that you had with him, his hopes and aspirations for the city, the things that he talk to you about wanting to achieve, all of those memories tell the tale of who our mayor was in the truth was that he was an incredibly special person. he was someone who cared so deeply about the city, who made sure that he was humble. that he shared in all of the credit. someone who never forgot his roots, no matter what people said. today as we remember and as we are here at this one-year anniversary, i hope that each of you take that memory that you share with someone else. because memories go away when you pass or when you stop talking about those individuals. but the way that we celebrate people as we talk about them. we talk about their accomplishments and what they meant to us and how they made us feel. i hope that you will take that with you today and share your own personal story of our ma
