ktvu's paul chambers is in hayward right now with details on what happened. good morning, paul. >> reporter: good morning, dave. i recently got off the phone with police saying the update we have for you now is the man is alive. the 36-year-old man was allegedly shot in the head by his 15-year-old son. now take a look at video here. police say around 4:00 yesterday afternoon they responded to a call of a shooting in a 27000 block of gating road. once officers arrived on scene they found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. published reports state the 15- year-old's mother and estranged father had some sort of altercation before the shooting. it's believed the 15-year-old's grandparents lived with his grandparents and mother and sister. a neighbor was told that the mother asked the father to leave and then the grandfather stepped in and was pushed to the ground. that's when the young man allegedly shot his father and ran from the scene. minutes later police caught up with the young man who matched the suspect's description at a nearby park.
