mike pelton is live from the hayward and the in be wary standoff took place yesterday. >> off--haywardn his late teens to early 20s managed to escape. this whole situation began at the downtown hayward bart station. take a look at the video from the scene yesterday afternoon. authorities responded around 2:00 reports of a man leading the bart station with a gun. they arrived and found four men matching the description and detained three. the fourth person ran away. they found him here outside of the dmv holding the gun and was told to drop the gun. if the suspect pointed at a officer who feared for his life and fired at the suspect there is the suspect then hopped over a fence and escaped. police set up a perimeter but after a three hour search of the neighborhood they did not find him. they do not believe he was struck by gunfire. i spoke with the hayward police department and they tell me they are following up on leads to determine who they are looking for. two of the three people detained were arrested on unrelated charges. the latest information is of the dmv is supposed to open to

witnesses reported seeing a man with a gun leaving the hayward bart station yesterday afternoon. sky 7 was overhead as officers swarmed the area and an officer spotted the suspect near dmv open jackson street and investigators say he pointed a gun at the officer. the officer fired a shot but did not hit him. police searched for three hours and evacuated several businesses but have not found the man. >> police have broken up the most sophisticated identity theft rings they have seen. police with help from the secret service arrested these three people. they created fake driver's licenses credit cards and money and checks, and one man was ripped off for $100,000 after his checkbook was stolen. police say they are still looking for two "persons of interest" in the case. >> police are investigating whether there are additional crimes related to a peeping and burglary suspect. the 38-year-old guzman is facing charges for two burglaries. he stole items while the people inside were sleeping both times. last week, officers say they found a pair of women's underwear on the roof of a home

we're standing in front of the hayward house that was build in 1858 by eb and charles hayward. in the civil war, the haywards were the largest slave holders in the united states, and so they moved all their slives from the coast to goodwill. if you drive into goodwill, you drive in the same way that over 12,000 slaves walk -- 2,000 slaved walked in to goodwill in the civil war. in 1863, the county records show there were 976 slaves that taxes were paid on, but records that we have showed there were over 2,000 here. we're standing in front of two of the original slave cabins that remain at goodwill, and when they came to goodwill to tell the slaves that they were free, he had the chief driver go over to plantation and have all the slaves come to this point, took two to three hours to get them all here, but they all gathered here, and they told them they were free. the reaction of the slaves was somewhat surprising. they just milled around for hour or so, and they were told to go on home, go to bed, prepare to go to work the next morning. this water wheel was browghts here in the
