and that's what police here in hayward are taking a look at here. good morning, sam, to you and to kris. this is the industrial overpass where it all began before 5:00 this morning. a man only described as in his late 20s was here, but somehow he ended up in the far right lane of southbound 880 here in hayward. the question for investigators now is, was there someone else here on the overpass with him and was there foul play? the chp got reports of a body laying o ing oing on the roadwa5 this morning. the driver of a big rig felt a vibration and pulled over. traffic control officers got here, saw the body, and blocked off the two right lanes of the 4 as well as the on-ramp on to southbound 880 as investigators tried to collect evidence. chp responded, but hayward police have taken over because of the chance that something criminal took place on the overpass, which is the city's jurisdiction, meaning this could be a homicide. >> determining exactly what happened. if it was a crime that occurred on the overpass, we would approach it totally different,

we got some new information from hayward pd.irm that a person did fall off the overpass on to the main lines of the freeways. live conditions from chopper 5. this happened about 5:00 this morning. traffic is backed up beyond to marina at this point so very slow-and-go conditions as a result. northbound 880 also seeing some delays because of this for spectator slowing. we are seeing delays from whipple. you can see on the map in the teens, 11 miles per hour, 12 miles per hour, slow to 92, as well. hesperian is a good alternate getting backed up though mission a good alternate, as well. you can see checking our drive time along 880, southbound 238 to 84 taking 37 minutes right now. so again, give yourself some extra time. or avoid the area if you can. seeing delays along 580 and 80 as well towards the bay bridge. traffic is backed up beyond the maze. so we have an accident westbound 80 at powell street in the center divide slow go and a live look at conditions at the bay bridge toll plaza. you can see slow conditions. metering lig
