and hayward unified school district spokesperson explained why. our only option, um, is to move forward with some really drastic changes, so we don't have the luxury of not taking any action. the hayward school district says this is about several different factors. enrollment is down about 2000 students district wide over the past two years. they have an estimated $14 million deficit for next year. the districts also required to make upgrades to some of their older buildings, but says it's more cost effective to move the kids from those old schools to newer facilities instead of paying for 900 million in repairs phase one of the districts proposed closures include last brook elementary, bowman, eldridge, strobridge and faith ringgold school of the arts and sciences, as well as anthony ochoa middle school. we want to hear from the community. what story? does the data not tell us? and so this is why it's really important that we're hearing from parents from families. those school communities plan to do just that, making their voices heard at a rally
