l lack lackluster but longer term, i do like the company and it is a buy for me >> let's talk about hca think >> i really like the earnings report and the move. but i'll say the same thing that i did about proctor and gamble when you see a gap up like that and specifically high on the day is within the first 15 minute bar, generally that means that it is not good for continuation into the following week because we're seeing a wick at the top of the candle which means that we have profit takers coming in here and so when i'm looking at it short term trade, it is lackluster but like the long term trade up into a $300 price point. >> and i still remember that big miss and finally, albemarble. a shocker. >> specifically today with the high volume break, we've broken some pretty key support zones. so with that when we have a high volume break like this post earnings, and we've broken some critical support zones, i think that it is good for continued down side. when you look at the lower levels of support, it would be a tar getting first about 165 and then about down to about 150 >> wow okay

hershey's clorox, lily, hca, mcdonald's, yum brands all consumer classic defensive names, but the restcals, like industrials and materials are starting to move up. here's where we are. the bottom line is, it was not -- it's so far not been nearly as bad as anybody who was afraid we got 89 companies reporting, 76% beating, close to the average good enough for government work. the beat is 5% for years, prior to covid, the average beat on the s&p was 3 to 6% so this is within the average before covid we had some whacky numbers during covid try to look at precovid when you look at the numbers. 62% beating on revenues is lighter than historical norms. the key point, guys, for the second, third and fourth quarters, the numbers are not coming down and that's because the analysts seem very reluctant to cut second half numbers ahead of the federal reserve there is still a belief out there in the soft landing that is largely predicated on the fed not only stopping, but towards the end of next year, towards the end of this year, beginning of next year, cutting rates. analysts seem reluctant to cu

hca had great earnings on friday it's been a great performer.s is another new high all right, they do urgent care, they do hospitals, a lot of facilities you go in and do medical checkups in. maybe it's not terribly exciting, it's not tech, but it's consistent performer. that's a new high. speaking of a new high, this is an historic high, merck. merck, of course, is a dow deponent the problem with merck, it's a very low volatility stock, low beta beta of about 30 it means if the s&p is up 1%, merck would only be up about a third of a percent it doesn't move much on a daily basis so people don't notice the movement of it it's been a huge, steady performer for the last several months again, this is a new high. another one sneaking up, and it's been very iffy, either side of positive or negative, but exxonmobil is slowly creeping up it's up about 6% it's been far stronger than most other energy stocks in general and it's right near a new high about 1% and greg is the specialist, one of the big guys down here for many years overseeing exxonmobil bac
