it's been like this in healdsburg all afternoon.is the manhole that you're talking about here. it is still gushing out on the road and into nearby vineyards. take a look at how it was pushing out of the manhole around 2:30 this afternoon. you can see the runoff is going in a nearby vineyard. the owner is worried it will flood her stores and tasting rooms. that owner is using sandbags to divert water. but i can tell you several inches of water are creeping up to her doorstep. now, not too far away from that vineyard, a tree fell on to a middle creek road and blocked both directions for about an hour this afternoon. we're seeing quite a few downed trees resulting in power outages in the north bay. let's come back live now. you can see, this rain has not -- has not let up at all. and with this saturation a lot of the soil we have out here is saturated, public works workers expecting to see even more downed trees. a couple of breaks but for the most part it's been a continuous situation since this morning. back to you. >> thank you, da

i would say from healdsburg in ukiah and lakeport all the way up to the california-oregon border we could see rainfall totals of 6 to 12 inches of rainfall there. so flooding is certainly possible in our north bay mountains even in marin county. we could see some flooding or small stream issues coming up on friday and saturday. wide range of rainfall totals haven't moved that much over the past 24 hours. some of you in the south bay may receive as little as one inch of rainfall. still good but not a ton of rain. whereas the north bay may see upwards of 8" of rainfall. up here north of the golden gate perhaps eight times as much rain as down in the south bay and right in between we find the east bay, we find oakland, san francisco, san mateo, with two or three inches of rainfall likely over the next several days. we need every drop. north bay rain begins tomorrow. rain spread south coming up on friday. if you make plans over the weekend, saturday is trending dry. sunday will be the wetter choice. you have to get outside, think you might be already on saturday. oakland tomorrow cloudy 67. v

we're under a flood town and hire in the town of healdsburg, you can say they're taking no chances. they wrap them in plastic in an effort to keep the water out. the rain is just beginning but by the time it's all over we could see as much as 10 inches falling in some parts of california. that is a reminder of what happened in this town last december when several inches of rain fell and flooded this area in a matter of hours. streets were more like rivers. but since then the bay area hasn't seen a single drop of rain making it one of the driest januarys on record. it could provide some insight for sign activities. this type of weather system is called a pineapple express. it's an atmospheric funnel of water that fums water right here to california and researchers ore the next couple of days will fly the planes into the storm with sensors to get a better understanding of the rainfall that water. gayle? >> thanks a lot. danielle niles is tracking the storms from the north to the east. >> good morning. torrential downpours. it will let up at times and come right back in as a big upper-
