we did have those gusts in the healdsburg hills reaching 57 miles per hour. we're still seeing some breezy winds in those areas, near the kincade fire and then we're also dealing with some very cold temperatures this morning, as a lot of people are waking up without power. it's only 35 degrees near santa rosa and napa at 43 degrees, with some lower 50s elsewhere. looking at the outline of the kincade fire, we are seeing this, such a large area that continues to burn and move closer to highway 101 but we are unfortunately going to see this maybe still spreading, going into the rest of the day, as our red flag warning continues. it does end at 4:00 today, although the winds look to calm down a little bit before that in the north bay. we're still looking at the potential of getting gusts up to 65 miles per hour, and then for the east bay, santa cruz mountains, the red flag warning will expire today at 4:00. so we'll have more of an update on what also we're expecting for wind speeds coming up. mike, you saw something just reported in san leandro. >> kari, just c

that's because we just tracked wind gusts upwards of 82 miles per hour near the healdsburg hills and now tracking gusts upwards of 73 miles per hour. so current wind speeds out there right now sustained 25 miles per hour less for our coasts and valleys. but tonight we could still see gusts, especially along the highest piece of the north bay upwards of about 85 miles per hour or less but then calmer conditions by monday morning right around sunrise, nonexistent winds along the coast and valleys and that trend continuing throughout the day but relative humidity is going to drop in fact it could be as low as 10% tonigeas could drop to as as 25 to 45% for our coasts and vall can see no rain in sight for the next 7 days and i know justine you kind use a halloween is that benchmark of rain because usually in the bay area it either brains most of the time on halloween or doesn't and as we can see no rain in sight. but we're staying plenty dry and also temperatures near average so the good thing is. a cooling trend but so gusty northerly winds that we need to watch out for tuesday night or

the highest gusts we had this morning in the healdsburg hills were 80 miles an hour. these are very damages and strong winds. we're going to see these lasting for several hours. elsewhere across the bay area, we've been t fires. in east contra county, we saw fires there. so far in this area, we've seen gusts, pittsburg reaching 45 and peninsula, 45 miles an hour. this is the forecast as we go throughout the day. winds coming in from the north. we can see our gusts will continue to stay anywhere from 40 to 45 miles an hour over the next couple of hours into the rest of the morning and may get stnger asfront intensifying as through and causing the winds to blow offshore. unfortunately there's no relief here as we move people out of the area because there will be absolutely no possibility of containing this fire at this point. i want to take you to the traffic maps because we do have a lot of people trying to get out of the way of this rapidly spreading fire, the kincade fire, and parts of healdsburg as far as windsor and people having to move out of the way. as people e

the eastern edge, copper ridge is reporting 30 miles- per-hour and we lost the reading over healdsburg hills but reporting 25-35 mile-per- hour winds at times with relative humidity in the 20s and expected to drop to single digits and be critically dry in the second part of the evening and into the overnight hours. looking at mount saint helene, wind is from the north and though the flow is primarily this direction, someone is coming in with atlas peak reporting 18 miles-per-hour breezes. it's not just the north bay that has the advisory. is the east bay and the santa cruz mountains with mount diablo gusting up to 36 miles- per-hour. into the morning, we will see the strongest wind with the peak hitting at about 60 miles- per-hour, especially over the north bay and it doesn't only include the hills, it's the north bay valley locations, east bay owned along the san francisco and san mateo coastline. looking at the next 24 hours, notice we have darker shades of yellow and orange over the area right now on the eastern edge and if i stop it for you at about 7:00 or so, now, we've got red and pur

pretty gusty wind speeds now that the sun has set gusts upwards of 20 miles per hour near the healdsburg hills but still dealing with a very warm air mass and because of that relative humidity still bone dry out there, 12% and this is going to have a huge impact for us in the bay area, starting as early as tomorrow morning in fact today we were not only under a spare the air alert but an air quality advisory. in fact we did see some pretty unhealthy air particles in the north bay with some moderate air particles for those of you in the east bay today and tomorrow, it's only going to get worse in fact unhealthy air particles. everyone in the bay area because the wind is going to shift from the northeast to the northwest and all of that smoke and ash from the can kade fire is going to blanket the bay area tomorrow and in addition to that national weather service. already jumping the gun right now on this fire weather watch that will go into effect right before our main wind event the biggest wind event that we've seen all year long. we are tracking some pretty gusty of 80 miles per hour or less

gusts right around the higher elevations of the fire last night at 60 miles per hour in the healdsburg hills. mt. saint helena 56. mount diablo 56. lower elevations, not that much. we didn't expect a lot of wind at the lower elevations. that was good news to keep some of the embers from moving around. so today right now, what's happening, most of the hot spots based on some satellite detection right over here in the eastern side of the fire. so middletown is still certainly watching this, of course, very closely. but they have gotten that 30% containment. and we are expecting a new update as we head throughout this hour. tomorrow, wind forecast. i don't see anyig gusts. in fact into friday, 5 to 10 miles per hour even on saturday, 5 to 10 miles per hour as well. we're even looking at the potential here of some rain ahead. coming up in about 15 minutes, we'll take a look at a new warning, but this is cold weather related. a frost advisory for the north bay. i'll have details on that again in about 15 minutes. >> okay, jeff. we'll see you shortly. this is all a sobering reminder of the deadly

the healdsburg hills, gusts at 37. more details on the red flag warning and the areas in red from the santa cruz mountains, the east bay to the north bay in place until 4:00 this afternoon. decreasing wind of 10-20. the wind advisory has expired but it's still very dry. relative humidity around 8-15%. that is still a concern because that means the fire could still take off. look at the current wind. mount st. helena, a gust at 15. overnight i do see a guest at 45. around the fire zone, if you sites showing you the relative humidity 9-15-20% and the wind, thankfully were not talking about strong wind. still a bit of an easterly push but that will gradually shift this afternoon. the forecast model showing you that we have these values and numbers beginning to go down. by 3:00 it's not too bad and we should continue to have improving conditions as we head into the evening hours. it looks like the major wind event is decreasing, fading away but we still have some very dry conditions. while we are heading in the right direc

we had gusts above 76 miles per hour in healdsburg hills and north at midnight and then pine flat road, 3300 feet from a gusts of around 80 miles per hour . as i mentioned the wind is starting to back off quite a bit. here is the satellite that you can see our live picture showing you that smoke plume and the satellite is picking up on that same smoke plume and look what's happening. it's actually moving in this direction heading out toward the pacific. that offshore wind event we talked about. a well-defined wind pushing the smoke in that direction. as we come in closer we will show you some of the current observations. we will continue with a live picture to the left. here is the layout for this portion of sonoma county. here is cloverdale and the russian river and also around geyserville about here. some of the peaks are still showing you gusts of 22 miles per hour . you can see tempers very as you go up in elevation. a little cooler. 69 degrees. closer to sea level temperatures are in the lower 80s on track to reach the lower 90s. still very dry. relative humidity around 12- 14%. a

we are looking at winds right now picking up over coverage at 24 miles per hour, healdsburg hills 23 miles per hour but if you look west of the, we have calm conditions reported over ridge rides, geyserville ranch and areas over hosta and geyserville. winds are expected to pick up and grow stronger tonight. here's a breakdown over the bay area. strongest over the north bay peak. val is expected to hit 35 miles per hour. east bay hills getting in on the wind at about 50 miles per hour. if you look west, the coast is included in the red flag warning with wind gusts expected to hit 30 miles per hour. as far as the timing on this, right now you can see the winds, again, primarily on the northeast edge. as we get through the first part of the afternoon, they remain fairly steady but by tonight, that is going to really begin to pick up anywhere from 40 to 50 miles per hour expected and then lasting into the overnight hours . here's a look at tomorrow morning, they finally begin to break down write about 8 am, it looks like and then as we get into the second part of the morning by 11:00, lo

>> well, this was the soda rock winery on route 128 in healdsburg in the hills here where the kincade fire started. as you can see, not much left. overnight the report was 94 structures were destroyed. that number likely to increase as hundreds of thousands of people are displaced by this fire. we spent the day in this area, we watched a house completely burn to the ground which was tragic to see and heartening to see elsewhere, as we embedded with firefighters the structure protection that they were doing to make sure this fire, which is growing, 55,000 acres is the latest report overnight. containment drops from 10% to 5%. these firefighters are protecting structures up in the hills and down the hill closer to more incorporated and populated areas. we spent the afternoon with firefighters in windsor. embers were blowing in, coming in to attics and landing in backyards and sending up flames. these firefighters quickly put out these fires to make sure damage did not spread, that an entire subdivision didn't go up in flames. they're working so hard around-the-clock. so many firefighter

in healdsburg reaching 93 miles per hour. and that was in the hills. so we are seeing in some of our higher elevations these gusts reaching over 80 miles per hour in saint elaina. for hawkeye, a higher elevation, a wind gust there of 63 in the hills of novodo 61. even in san francisco 39-mile-per-hour winds. i was looking at the camera behind you. you can see over the bay, whitecaps over the water. the flags are just waving. i mean, it is really a high wind event that will stay with us throughout the day. grizzly peak seeing winds up to 45. in pittsburg also. in the highland peak area around the diablo range 58. i want to show you the outline of the kincade fire, what is burned already and what likely expand the next couple of days. unfortunately, we are seeing 30,000 acres burned here, and so we are seeing mostly in the highest elevations those high wind gusts movingou except for the rest of the day, this is what our models show in terms of miles per hour. still as we go through 11:00 it's going to be winds. clearlake 50-mile-per-hour winds. even for

a much better set up here in the east bay or in the hills above healdsburg where the winds are calm for the most part. it is cool. which is in the upper 30s and low 40s. that is helping firefighters a little bit. here is what the model does. that is tomorrow morning, not too bad. that is tomorrow afternoon. it is getting there. red flag warning is up at this point. when you get into the tomorrow evening hours, tomorrow 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, you start to notice the winds. there it is. 40 mile-per-hour winds. it backs up pretty quickly as we going to wednesday afternoon. it is not a long-lived event. it is powerful, but not as powerful as the last one. we will get through it, just pay attention. if you get evacuation orders, you want to do it. we will see more power outages from pg&e for sure. >>> now the latest on the kincaid fire at a briefing this evening, cal fire said that fire has now burned 74,000 acres. there is some good news, calmer winds today allowed firefighters to increase containment from 5% up to 15%. so far, cal fire says 123 structures have been destroyed, 57 of thos

this is the scene up north in healdsburg near chalk hill road near the chalk hill road intersection where embers from the kincade fire are blowing on to the roadway. it is a borderline chaotic situation up there. people are being told to stay away. of course there's an evacuation order for healdsburg and windsor. the situation changing by the moment. and here's what cal fire had to say about the fire jumping containment lines. >> we monitored and observed as the winds shifted and became very gusty and strong, sustained winds, and we observed increased fire behavior and there was containment lines installed in firing operations that were overtaken by the fire. the fire behavior continues to increase. the strong, gusty winds were forecast updated from 3:00 until 10:00. we're currently in that time period and the fire behavior is increasing. >> reporter: definitely a critical time for fighting that kincade fire. the concern is these areas of northwest -- northeast santa rosa, i have to tell you the story right now is the winds. we talked about those winds coming. they are definitely here and
