yeah heather, this is a day to celebrate and honor the working class. it dates back to the late 18 hundreds and the push for an eight hour workday. the labor movement eventually got us that eight hour day, but it continues to struggle to gain the relevance of its heyday. a coalition of groups representing unions and workers marched down san jose east santa clara street, calling upon people to continue the fight for expanded workers' rights that there is a living wage. that immigrants rights that people are not taking advantage of anywhere that we stopped wage theft. that's the majority of what this is about. suzanne remy in went from a non union private sector job to a unionized public sector position 15 years ago. what i find with unions is a very fair , you get an increased based on the economy. um you have medical support. um i just feel so much more taken care of recently successful efforts by small groups of workers to unionize at starbucks and amazon give the appearance of a potential resurgence of unionization as observed by a public sector union
