hello again everyone i'm heather holmes in tonight for gasia. this is bay area news at 7:00. >>> late this afternoon oakland police say they have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man for this drive-by shooting that left a little 3-year-old boy dead. we found this photo from him dated 2004. he faces multiple charges. the police say one of the victims identified the driver of the car used in the shooting and a witness identified the shooting suspect as denard. they tracked him down and arrested him in pittsburgh on tuesday. he has denied being involved but the district attorney's office is confident the right person is now behind bars. >> the defendant with cal us disregard with the safety of everyone willfully shot the little toddler in front of his family as they walked home on this bustling oakland street. >> reporter: two men were injured in the shooting. they are expected to survive. they suspect those men were the targets and say the shooting is gang related. >>> our own jane hernandez got an exclusive interview on the phone with one of th

. >> i'm heather holmes. breaking news is what we begin with. law enforcement officials have swarmed a rural road in el dorado county where they say the vehicle tied to the girl's alleged kidnapper her father has been located. and sources tell us two minutes ago there are two bodies inside the vehicle. what we've learned from sources about this breaking news in this case. >> reporter: innius the last half hour the amber alert sign that had been burning all day went dark, a sign that the search has been called off. a law enforcement source has confirmed the car has been found with two bodies believed to be mourad samaan and his daughter madeline samaan-fay. the forerunner everybody was looking for was found late today in el dorado county east of sacramento. last weekend samaan was served with papers giving his wife sole custody of 2-year-old madeline. the next day he disappeared with the girl. he was supposed to return his daughter to his wife last sunday and never showed up. she reported the 2-year-old madeline samaan-fay was missing on tuesday

. >> i'm heather holmes. >> really, really close hatch is the word tonight from washington, d.c. about a deal to avoid a first-ever government default. our craig boswell joins us live from washington, d.c. with new details in the debt showdown. >> reporter: heather, good evening. we have had heard that we're still not finished and we're working hard though. an 11th-hour deal could be at hand to prevent the us government from defaulting on hesitate debt. both sides expressing optimism that they will finally be able to break this bipartisan impasse. >> cooperation is theth way forward. >> reporter: a tentative deal between congress and the white house would raise the nation's debt ceiling through 2012 and also includes guarantied cuts of about $900 billion, but in this two-stage agreement, a second debt limit increase would prompt one of three scenarios. first, a bispart zhan committee would have to identify at least $1.25 trillion savings written in a bill that must clear congress. if not, congress must pass a balanced-budget amendment to the constitution and send it to the states

heather holmes is on her way in the city. i told her, heather, you are gonna be there for about 20 minutes or so before you get on the span. so in you are driving -- if you are driving onto the bay bridge, the traffic is gonna be slow on the bay bridge as well. there are no major problems. if you are driving on 237 in the southeast bay, very thick traffic and getting out to 880. 880 itself is also slow. we continue to also watch the contra costa commute. but we're looking at 280 northbound, getting up to highway 17. i mentioned contra costa because i've been looking at the maps on the antioch freeways. you can see traffic in both directions is kind of slow due to that construction zone. 680 is slow from pleasant hill to walnut creek. it's 7:10. let's go to mark. >> once again, quite a bit of overcast over the bay area and coast. here is our live camera looking across the bay. that fog bay is expanding in size over the past two or three hours. as far as the pattern you can see the clouds over pacifica, san francisco, over the n
