let's begin our live team coverage with abc7 news reporter, transportation reporter heather ishimaru live at lake mira bastation. heather, where is the union and management at right now? >> reporter: well, far apart still, and no talks are scheduled for today, kristen, but that could change. it is early, after all. and also more importantly, perhaps, the atu local 1555 president tells us that the state mediator did call the union last night and just has to follow up and find out what that call was about. while workers are out here on the picket line, these in particular right now taking a little bit of a break, but while the picketers are out, the union's lawyers and negotiating teams have been meeting and working behind the scenes. it's just they're not necessarily working together with the other side since the strike began yesterday morning. atu's negotiating team does have a meeting planned for 11:00 this morning. just to be clear, that is just the atu team meeting alone, not with the district. both sides say they are eager and waiting to get back to the table. it's just a question
