sonny and heather milton were newly weds who loved going to concerts. >> his name was sonny. he was literally sunshine. he was the most selfless person that i have ever met. even until his last breath, he proved that. >> reporter: when the first shots rang out, sonny grabbed heather, pulled her to safety, he was shot in the back. he died saving her life. >> he saved me before much this incident. he taught me what real love was. >> reporter: denise and tony burditis had been married 32 years. they were high school sweethearts. she died in his arms. they were on vacation from west virginia. they took this video in front of the festival stage a day before the massacre. >> i have good thoughts of her in the times we have had. i'm going to miss her greatly. her family is going to miss her greatly. >> reporter: lisa patterson was a mother of three. she spent most of her time coaching the local softball league and helping out in the church. she is remembered for her infectious energy and fierce love for her family. >> she was such an amazing person. she cared for so many people. she

we spent some of the day today with a woman named heather milton. she and her husband sonny whose a registered nurse were here because they loved going to concert. when the first firing started sonny grabbed her and pull her to safety. he saved her life and lost his own life doing it. we don't name the killers on the broadcast or show you they're picture, we don't believe history should remember the name of those who took the lives of others. we don't believe history should remember the name of the columbine killers. it's funny everybody can fame the name of the killers of killings but how about the victims of the killings. probably remember the name of the rearry shooter but how many remember the name of jessica ghali who die died there. sandy hook, how many people remember the name of grace mcdonald who died there. we hope history does not remember the name of this killer, we hope history remember it is names of all those who lost their lives. i talked to heather about her beloved sonny earlier today. what do you want people to know about sonny? >

heather milton talked to savannah this morning on the "today" show less than 72 hours after her husband'sow he saved my life. he -- when we realized the gunshots were going off and it was not just fireworks like everybody thought, i said, let's get down. and he said, no, we'll get trampled and he wrapped his armed around my back. and as we started to run, i felt him get shot in the back. and we fell to the ground at that point. there was still gunfire all around us. and people were lying on the ground. and i tried to perform cpr on him on the field. >> you're a doctor. you're a surgeon. >> yes. >> did you know in your heart right then? >> as it progressed on, i did. as i was giving him cpr, he began to bleed from his mouth. and i was just screaming for somebody to help me. and somebody finally did come help when the gunfire stopped. >> somebody helped you get to the hospital. >> yes, i don't know who they were, but a man ran out and put sonny over his shoulder and ran across the field. he was put in the back of a pickup truck with two other victims. and he performed cpr on sonny the entir
