moments ago in the picture we saw a patrol car, police cruiser patrolling the streets, it's raining heavyly. just an hour ago we got confirmation that the hurricane had made landfall about 90 miles from new orleans. we are live in the weather center. >> the good news is it has made landfallt. will start to fall apart. here is the story. a slow moving peak hurricane but very moist. a lot of water. it moves forward, look at that, from friday still in the lower valley. you will see a lot of runoff over the next few days. the storm surge six to 12 feet and it's about the rain. you could see 18, 20 inches of rain. they will have real issues, it's slow too so it'll last over the next 24 hours in the new orleans area is a cause for concern. when i calm back we will -- updates but we will look at what you can expect, i will see you back here. >> there was a brief scare this morning for residents near the chevron refinery as another flair was ordered. we flew overhead just minutes after that flare. it's a common technique used to relieve pressure upside the refinery. this as many many still on edge
