joining us now from texas, hector garza. thank you so much for joining us today. i know that you and your colleagues have been working very hard to deal with this crisis. talk to me for a moment about the situation right now, about the crowded detention center, and about the children that you're dealing with on a regular basis. >> thank you, uma. well, what we have right now is a very serious border security issue at the border. our agents are desperately trying to protect our border, and in the interest of legal aid coming to the country, we're having a very difficult time. as this crisis is ongoing, cbp continues to limit the amount of hours that are agents can actually go out and work and patrol the border. there's an ongoing bill right now in congress that will actually solve this problem and will help secure our country. >> is it true that 70% of the border patrol agents are not actually patrolling the border right now, just dealing with the crisis of handling the concerns tied to the children? >> approximately 70% of the border patrol agents have been reso r

we also have hector garza on the phone with us, a border agent in texas. glad you could join us as well. ruben, i will start with you. john and i have been watching the video from down there and watching this anger and this passion from the people on the protest lines in that town hall meeting. are you surprised by this sort of not in my backyard reaction? >> no. it's typical. but i'm disappointed by it. the amount of ignorance is really profound and in a case like this calling these folks illegal immigrants. we don't know if they came across illegally, if they have asylum claims, refugees and yet to be determined. we can't even declare them illegal immigrants. they didn't come in with an invitation but that's how refugees come in. so there's that. and beyond that, the sort of anger we see, the palpable anger, i would love to see some of this directed to employers directed in murrietta who typically hire undocumented immigrants. a town not far from local vineyards. who do you think picks the grapes in the middle of the night. undocumented immigrants works i

hector garza and jared sealy, gentlemen, welcome, great to have you here. >> thank you. >> nice to bee. >> hector, let me give with you. we had you on a few weeks ago. you gay us great insights on what you and r your colleagues have been up against. tell us if anything has gotten better or if it's worse when it comes to caring for these children. >> well, it's important to note that our border patrol agents are the united states first line of defense against these criminal organizations that are trying to enter our country. now the situation continues. it's a very serious situation. some people are calling it a humanitarian crisis. some people call it a refugee situation. we call it an abuse of our immigration system. the border patrol is trying to do the best it can. >> has it gotten any better since we last spoke? >> well, over the last few weeks shs the situation still continues. we have seen a slight decrease many apprehensions. we do know it's a fluid situation. the drug organizations and cartels have the ability to adjust to our operations. so it's just a matter for us to catch

we have an interesting talk about all of this yesterday with cnn contributor and border agent hector garzahe conversation going today. gentlemen, thank you so much first of all. on the fourth of july for joining us. i know you probably would like to be with your families somewhere. i want to say first of all, the three of us, i look at all three of our last names, obviously there's been immigration in each of our past. i want to keep at the heart of it what the important thing is here, that we have something that needs to be fixed. ruben, you called what you saw happen un-american. you slammed not only the protestors but the border patrol. what went wrong there? >> couple things. they took these old slogans from 20 years ago, dusted it off, tried to apply it to this case when it really doesn't apply. these are not immigrants. they're refugees. they came from central american countries seeking a save haven. so it really is apples and oranges. if you look at all the rhetoric, talking about an invasion, it's all tired dusty rhetoric that doesn't apply. now the border a patrol screwed up becau

hector garza was down there talking ab exactly what happened and why things are so wide open. take a look. >> 45% of the border agents have been reassigned for administrative duties including the processing, transporting aliens and this is the poorest border in the country. the reasons the agents are being or crossing the river is because the coartels are going to try u the border patrol agents and at the same time they can cross the dangerous criminals and things that don't want to get apprehended. >> if it was not helpful to the democratic party, the massive immigration we have had for years now, do you think the obama administration would put up with this and not shut down this border? this has saved the israelis a lot of death from putting up the wall, but to put up a wall is totally unacceptable. and again, these are voters. >> actor jon voight was on the huckabee show and made predictions about obama and how to handle this country. he brought some thoughts along last night. let's listen. >> let us not forget the veterans left to die in the american hospitals. let us not
