hurricane helene turned out to be a big one, just about the biggest anyone has seen. i spoke with the release people that do this for a living, and they said they have never seen on this bad. valdosta has been ravaged. the town is very badly hurting. many thousands are without power. they are running low on food and fuel. it will be distributed now throughout georgia as well as north carolina and south carolina, florida, virginia, alabama and tennessee, that is our big one the devastation wrought by the storm is so extensive. nobody thought this would be happening especially now so late in the season for americans. homes, highways and cars and hospitals have been cleansed and the water. entire neighborhoods turned into lakes. nobody has seen anything like it permitted to every family that has been displaced in georgia and north carolina which has really been hit, we are going there also, they don't have communication. they don't have anything. we are trying to -- i just spoke to elon. we want to get starlink hooked up because they have no communication whatsoever. elo

we're still tracking a lot of impacts associated with helene. we've seen a tremendous storm surge in parts of florida's gulf coast, especially into the apalachee bay. but also we've been peppered by tornado threats at times with some rotating cells, landfalling waterspouts in some cases into parts of south carolina. the severe winds have been especially hitting areas near and east of the tallahassee area, primarily east of tallahassee along interstate ten, but we're still seeing some destructive wind potential of gusts of nearly 70 or 80mph into central georgia. a lot of the trees here have not been stressed for a long time to this magnitude north of i-10, so there's a lot of tree fall. again, over a million addresses without electricity. and you can see that we're going to be watching the heavy rain continue. the mountains of western north carolina are a big problem spot right now for flooding rain. this will come to a conclusion in some of those wet areas late on friday, but we're going to keep an eye out for some destructive and potentially c

now of course, here we're just learning about the devastation left behind a by helene. we know that this was, as you mentioned, a historic hurricane, but it was also a deadly one. we know that there have been three storm-related deaths so far. one in florida, governor desantis says that person was killed when a sign hit a car on the i for in the tampa area. the other two deaths confirmed, right now are related to people being stuck in the middle of a tornado related to hurricane helene. now we also know turns right now are flooding overnight, not here, but in pasco county for example, dozens of people were rescued from the rising water. people were evacuated from hotels. due to the flooding concerns. so that definitely is happening. and as you mentioned, this is not over we are still holding on to see what other devastation will incur as of as of right now, we are definitely watching closely alright mary bell gonzalez for us, married bell. thank you very much for that report. we will stick with you throughout the morning all right. 26 minutes past the hour. now, here is

then we'll get you more specifics on helene.we begin, we'll begin mostly sunny out here across the bay area. plenty of 60s for the south bay peninsula and the tri-valley to start. so i don't really see any huge issues. we'll also have a lot more in the way of sunshine. just a little bit of a chance of some patchy fog near the coast in the bay. otherwise down to 56 in san francisco and the east bay right here at 59. then as we head through the afternoon, those numbers are going to be heating up. i don't see any one hundredths in the south bay, but you're certainly going to notice it 94 down here to los gatos, 93 in san jose, over to the east bay. some of the hottest weather antioch, concord, also livermore, upper 90s martinez 94, hayward 88. maybe you got the day off out to the beaches. looks pretty good here. 70 one half moon bay over to redwood city. we're at 88 san francisco, 72, in the outer sunset, 77 in downtown and up here across the north bay coming in with 94 in napa, 85 down towards mill valley. all right, let's take it
