. >> << the story of helen keller is coming to the stage. that's still ahead on "around around siouxland. the sioux city community theatre has a show running right now, the miracle worker the story of helen keller. it's a very unique performance. here to tell us more is joanne fox, the director. joannnn thanks f f being here. thanks s for havingnge sarah. for people who don't know the story of helen keller, give us a brief synois. helen keller was not born with afflictions, she had her sight, she had her hearing. through scarlet fever we believe she lost bototof those, so that's the start of the show. when we progress through the show, she is six years old now out of control, parents at a loss. what do we do, our child is a wild child, undisciplined. they contract annie sullivan. annie comes in, it is her job to teach helen american sign language in it's infancy at that time. she teaches her american sign language, , ere's a nnection between the signs and words. this is a performance anyone would enjoy, but also for unique audiences too. ver

now we have sacagawea, -- and helen keller. helen keller is one of the most popular statues because she is put there as a child, and everybody knows who she is. she is a replacement statue, meaning -- remember i told you in 2000, you can replace your old statue? this is a replacement. who replaced their old statue with helen keller? the great state of alabama. [laughter] ok. now, we will look. here are the total statues replaced so far -- eight. six men and two women. the two women are helen keller and amelia ehrhardt. .- amelia ehrhardt it is bronzed and ready for casting. these are the people who love gone in, and there is amelia ehrhardt. we have then working on this sculpture since 2010. been released to the press, so i thought it would be inappropriate to show it now, but it is magnificent. here is our candidate from florida. we would like to replace confederate general edmund kirby smith. get him out, and get the champion of the environment, marjory stoneman douglas, in his place. she wrote "river of grass" and recognizes
