live in oakland, henry lee, ktvu fox two news. henry, thank you. part of a landmark in the east bay that was vandalized and reported missing last weekend has been recovered. the sculpture known as the mission peak pole is in fremont. used to sit on top of the hiking area of mission peak. but went missing saturday morning last night, the park staff said they found the top portion of the pole that had been sawed off. the vandalism outraged many people who regularly hike the three miles up to the top of mission peak. it's metal. so someone had cut it with a metal cutter. so you'd have to be crazy to hike that much and then do it. so i just don't understand. for years, the mission peak pole has been a popular spot for hikers and joggers to take photos. park officials still haven't said where or when the vandalized pole was recovered. well, anyone heading up there today? we'll have some pretty decent weather . even if you decide to go up there, even though it's been vandalized. but a lot of people, it's still a great place to go. rosemary oroczo is here
