henry ford's father worked for him and that is how henry ford's father met his mother. henry ford's father and his grandfather built the house. it was relocated here late in henry ford's lunch -- life in 1944. it was only moved about two miles from the original location and it was built over time. we are representing it in its last iteration. sometime in the 1870s. it had a series of additions put on the back and eventually adding a kitchen and a woodshed. the house itself has grown over time and we are showing the changes now. it is a rather plain house. by the 1860s, some of the houses had more detail but it is fairly typical. the furnishings are very middle- class. a few homemade pieces but quite a few mass-produced pieces. they are not wealthy. this is average furnishings and decor for the house in the 19th century. this is part of a farm. a 250 acre farm or so. the buildings were really different depending on which timetable you are talking about. right across the street and located where it is right now was the family's barn. that was used to hold hay and livestoc

in the book i focus on this story of henry lowrie. henry lowrie, i will just say he was a victim of shame in arkansas in 1920. lowry is important because the naacp uses him any case to generate a lot of attention for their anti-lynching movement. they were sort of getting off the ground but by 1920 the naacp is fully enmeshed in the anti-lynching crusade. the henry lowry case, they really poured their resources into trying to pick him as a victim of white supremacy, as if it them of white mob violence. so they eventually create several news releases that really emphasize lowry is a victim, as someone whose civil rights were stripped, someone who is burned at the stake. i don't want to get into the gory details of his lynching by the was like it was in american history. our estimate is 10,000 people in the arkansas delta. so the lowry case is a clear case in the naacp of black dehumanization. however was interesting to see how the lack press at the time depicted the case. several publications focus in on the resistance that lowry offer
