we get more now in this developing news from our crime reporter henry lee. he is at the scene. ou been able to learn? >> reporter: well, frank, still very much an active crime scene. we have members of the daly city police joined by the san mateo d.a. inspectors as well as the crime lab. they are here investigating the scene, the scene of what happened here. it started about 12:45 when there was a domestic dispute between a male and female. witnesses said the man was chasing the woman while armed with a knife. when officers arrived, they found the suspect. the suspect bolted, ran up from the 800 block of campus drive up an embankment and ended up in the backyard of home on the 800 block of st. francis boulevard. there some kind of confrontation occurred in a backyard and an officer shot the suspect in the arm. the suspect's name has not been identified. neither has the officer. what we also know is that this will be part of a multi-agency investigation. we spoke with a police department sergeant short time ago, and this is what he said. >> witnesses reported that the male was po

to get the new developments from ktvu henry lee. he joins us live from the scene. what can you tell us. >> the good news, word that officer is out of surgery and in stable condition. you can see the traffic flowing right here at the excess onramp to the bridge. a man this morning that may have a connection to a homeless encampment not too far from where i am standing attached an officer and stabbed him in the next. two officers stopped to talk this man seen walking in the roadway. without warning the man attacked one of the officers and ran away. the injured officer's partner started to run after the suspect and realized that the other officer was hurt and gave him aid. witnesses gave police a description of the suspect and officers caught up with him at a wells fargo parking lot several blocks away. police recovered a knife there. this case is spotlighting the homeless encampment underneath the bridge where the police officer was stabbed. i went to the camp this afternoon and no one wanted to talk. nearby merchants tell me that homeless people in the area have not

henry lee, thanks. >>> breaking news right now involving a mystery of a woman's torso found near the pier sunday. fremont police say based on their investigation, it may be that of 57-year-old shelly car michael tishner. last night the california highway patrol reported that a man who jumped off the bay bridge and died was her husband, paul. he has not been named but investigators. we talked with a neighbor what was stunned to hear the news. >> it's disconcerting. it's a small town. if he. it's just unnerving to have something like this happen. >> the torso was spotted by fishermen sunday night. police could initially only confirm the victim was a woman and it was unclear how long that torso had been in the water. >>> an investigation is underway in alameda after an employee at a customs and border protection office got sick. the. hazmat crews were called to the scene just after 12:30. two dozen employees were quarantined, then evacuated. >> the woman had been complaining of being dizzy and some nausea, and then she had just recently opened a package that she noticed what appeared to

henry lee in daily city, thank you. >>> new at 6:00, a former san jose police officer took the witness stand today to defend himself against a charge of rape. 40-year-old jeffrey grave is on trial for allegedly raping a 36- year-old woman while on duty. prosecutors say grave had responded to a domestic disturbance call last march. they say grave took the woman to a hotel where he raped her. the san jose mercury news says that grave testified the woman was laughing and friendly. he was fired from the department last september and faces a life sentence if convicted. >>> the highway patrol is asking for the public's help tonight after another shooting on interstate 80 in the east bay. investigators say the shots were fired about 9:30 last night in pinole. officers say a man in one car was hit and critically injured but is expected to recover. another car which just happened to be stopped on the side of the road with a flat tire was also hit but no one in that car was injured. the chp says at this point no arrests have been made. since november there have been six shootings on i-80 between
