the cap and trade bill that henry waxman and congressman markey proposed would raise taxes over $700 billion -- $794 billion on businesses over a 10- year period. the money goes into the federal government. it does not go to companies that are going to be clean energy producers, clean manufacturers. a lot the allocation goes to the oil industry. the democrats needed to get the oil state democratic votes in order to get this out of congress. it is sad that good environmental legislation has gotten such a bad name because of the waxman-markey bill. the tax on businesses that produce carbon, not clear where the money is going to go, and i is one that has worked try to develop alternative energy technologies in this state, because i truly believe that new hampshire could be a place where alternative energy frieds and provides real jobs, and no working example of that is to have this -- and to have this government monstrosity attack these businesses, put the money into the till to be spent on other programs, it is really very sad and it will take awhile for an hour -- to work our way out
