seven of them happened in herat, as part of a group of protestors who tried to storm a u.s. consulate in one of the larger cities here. the protests have grown every single day each week. they have got even worse and worse and it is beginning to have a real impact on the relationship between the united states and the afghan community here. today general john allen, the top commander here in afghanistan went to the outpost where those two u.s. soldiers were killed yesterday. he spoke to american soldiers and told them, now is not the time for revenge. it tells you about the state of mind of those troops right now, that the top commander has to sort of walk them off the ledge and to remove those feelings of revenge. there is a lot of disinstruments andistrust and anger and unhappiness between the u.s. and afghan authorities right now. president obama has apologized, general allen has apologized. that feeling of anger among common afghans, the police forces, particularly the police and soldiers that are working with u.s. forces it has not gone away and it is only getting worse
