i work here at the heritage foundation. essentially what we're going to be doing is we're going to focus on certain areas, specifically that affect the poor in terms of -- their intentions to help. this chart demonstrates the household spending as a percentage of after-tax income. you can see, it really does hammer home the point that some of these policies really are affecting the poor. let's just look at housing. the lowest income households spent nearly 60% of their after-tax income on housing. that is compared to 26% for high think i'm earners -- for highest income earners. programs likeof rent control and various regulations against your use of private property as well as government takings for economic development. these are all programs hurting. another one is energy. you can see it on the list as well. these are things that are really impacting prices as well. leading to families having to choose between not eating for a day, paying the energy bill, or ordering medical coverage to pay the medical bill. i'm going to
