and i think about the americans like rachel goldberg and john poland, whose son, hersch goldberg-polin, was taken hostage on october 7th and then murdered in cold blood at point blank range last september. they really took the case to the world, and they spoke in the oval office on capitol hill, to the pope in rome, to world leaders, christian leaders and muslim leaders. so their advocacy, i think, really paved the way for this. but this deal could have been done eight months ago. and that's the real tragedy here, which is that political leaders weren't willing to cut the deal much earlier. now, who gets credit, stephanie? because i think a lot of people want to talk about that. it doesn't really matter. the biden team certainly conducted vigorous diplomacy, relentless diplomacy to try to get to this moment. but the trump team and president elect trump's team also played an important role in these negotiations. and i certainly think that president trump's private diplomacy with bibi netanyahu and his public threats that there will be hell to pay against hamas, certainly rattled the tun
