this woman has faced from herschel walker and to some degree's campaign. ink one of the more under discussed aspects of your reporting is that this woman all read the quote this woman a registered democrat, who still communicates with walker said that walker did not tell her about his plan to run for the senate before's announcement in august 2021. since then, however, one of walker's top surrogates had asked repeatedly if she would be willing to vouch for his character, reaching out as recently as this august. this woman, who had an abortion, paid for by herschel walker, the contact she's had from the campaign, is being asked of that for herschel locker's character. how she had any contact with him between august, and when the story broke, do you know? and furthermore, what do you surmise from the relationship between herschel walker and his campaign in terms of transparency? >> those are great questions. the woman tells me that she has not been in contact with them since that august outrage. they reached out to war, the contacts for the viewers out there,

the herschel walker story keeps getting worse for herschel walker. r this week, of course, the daily beast first reported that walker, the trump endorsed republican nominee for georgia's senate seat, had paid for a woman's abortion in 2009. the report contained a lots of contemporaneous evidence that has not been reviewed by us here at nbc news. it included the literal receipt for the procedure, that check walker sent the woman, and even they get well card walker apparently mailed her, complete with what sure looks like his signature. now, as we've said, nbc news is not independently verified the stories, this is a the daily beast story. walker vehemently denied the allegation when it first broke. he said he had no idea who the woman making the allegation could be. that seems a little difficult to believe, though, because according to a new report in the daily beast, and that woman who says walker paid for her abortion is also the mother of one of his children. again, nbc news has also not verified this most recent report. in a statement, walker said

according to another bombshell piece of reporting, that woman happens to be the mother of one herschel walker's children. when the woman first told "the daily beast" her story, we agreed not to reveal certain details over her concerns for safety and privacy. when walker categorically denied the story and said he didn't know who was making this allegation, the woman, a registered democrat, whose relationship with walker continued after the abortion, told "the daily beast" her chief concern with revealing her name was because she is the mother of one of walker's children. she wanted to protect her family's privacy as best she could while coming forward with the truth. walker has publically acknowledged that their child is his own and the woman proved she's the child's mother and provided credible evidence of a long-term relationship with herschel walker. nbc news has not independently confirmed this reporting. walker is once again denying some, all of the allegations, telling nbc there's, quote, no truth to it. in his denials, the woman tells "the daily beasts" it's his hypocrisy that spurred her

i've been talking to people about herschel walker in that race here in georgia. telling me that this isn't going to sway their vote. you have people who are not going to vote for walker already. they tell me, voters tell me they believe he didn't have the character to be in the senate because of the domestic abuse allegations. you see the new allegation that he paid for an abortion, it's just more of the same. they don't see him as someone who is suited to serve in elected office. i have been talking to herschel walker fans. they don't believe the evidence. they say there's not enough evidence to prove whether or not this allegation is true. i also talked to a young african american man who voted for trump in 2020. he told me that even if the allegations were true, that he would -- it would not change his vote for herschel walker because a lot of people have baggage in their background, things they not proud of. he is someone who is an opponent of abortion rights. he said now that herschel is also an opponent, someone who doesn't believe in even exceptions for ra

that's not what herschel walker has. and this is before the revelations from his son. ve to tell you the son's revelations, christian walker's own statements cannot be easily dismissed by republicans nationally. you can say, oh, "the daily beast" is a democratic super pac which i saw some say today. you can say that's a democratic hit piece, but you can't call christian walker a democratic operative. this is his son who has remained quiet this entire time until this moment. he's saying his father abused him and his wife, threatened to kill them, made them move, as you said, six times in six months because they were afraid for their lives. that is so damaging. even republicans hear that and they cringe. some of them will vote for him anyway because they still believe in him, but many are worried right now. this is a really real situation, a really difficult, tough situation. statewide republicans want to hear more from herschel walker over the next week, be more transparent, be accountable for the first time and explain this to voters. voters here kind of want to like he
