over 100 youngster were able to tour hetch hetchy. as you remember we had the class from the high school that we are supporting open up the season of camp this year and first time we invested in that way of having a high school class exposed to that and all of those young people as well as others were able to tour the hech tch hetchy facility this summer and we that had clean up and the young people helped facilitate that event. demand closing lifting up the engagement of the work of the young people did. we did a much better job this summer of creating opportunities for the young people to talk about their final work product. so we did an event of the san francisco public library where the young people showed these documentaries that they made over the summer that we had a great turnout that we made over the summer and this advisory committee toond show case their good work. the truth is when you hear them talking around our content whether it's biogas and the system and talk about what civil engineers do, i give some of these exampl

so for the hetch hetchy regional water system, we have a couple of drought relief projects that we're working on, primarily revolving around use of water for cherry re or. ~ [speaker not understood] cherry lake not normally used for drinking water supply. they're only there as a stand by supply. we can take water from cherry through a conveyance called the lower cherry aqueduct and bring it into our supply system. that water then has to be filtered at the sunol valley treatment plant unlike hetch hetchy which does not have to be filtered. lower cherry was built in 1914. here is a photo portion of that. it is largely an open channel and what damaged in the rim fire. so, we're engaged in a project to actually rehabilitate the lower cherry acwe edit so we can bring water of a good quality down to the system and deliver it to the bay area ~. that back up supply could become valuable a the drought continues on into the future. so, we have one contract with flat iron, west for the rehabilitation project on the lower cherry aqueduct. once we get the water to the bay area we have to do some m

first the water levels, as you can see hetch hetchy is down to 85 percent as has been coming down this summer as we are relying on supply. the water bank is low but has come up about 20,000 acre feet. we've seen water in to it and hopefully it can do next year for this year in terms of supplying water in our hetch hetchy. our storage is about 60 percent of maximum value. as normally happens during the summer, the levels come down as demand increases and there is no in flow in particular to note. precipitation, the charts have really stabilized now as we get into summer, we are about 2007 in terms of what that water year produced. just for information, we had on this slide one of the biggest year which is 1983 which is blue on the top which shows how variable it can be at the time and we don't know what we can expect going into it and it can be really dry years or wet years. on total delivers, this is actually a really good slide now because for the last 13 weeks demand has been down and starting to drop a little bit more. we are about 224 million gallons per day where typically this ti

we took over 100 youth to hetch hetchy this summer. so with that little announcement, again, today i'm excited to give you information on the work for summer employment opportunities for young people. i will try to do it fairly quickly and provide an overview of the strategy that we've undertook building off the success from last year and we did have goals that we were trying to achieve invested in youth this summer and the public and you commissioners attend that's going to highlight the work the young people did. so as many of you know the mayor last summer and again this summer as part of his summer jobs plus initiative put forward the goal of this summer of the city employing 7,000 young people during summer months. again it really reflects the city's acknowledgment that it's a good thing for young people to have paid positive work experience during the months that they are off school. so this sfpuc was glad to help the mayor reach that goal that he articulated but also i think clearly recognize and understand that we have as an ag

hetch is 90 percent low, and it has been coming down as the summer progressed and there is no inflow and that will decrease until the following and into the next wet season that we get. we expect to be around october first at about 250,000 acres in the reservoir, on that standard operating procedure for this kind of year, again the water bank number is low, 37 percent and it is low but that number has been coming up and it is actually come up about 13,000 acre feet as we have steadily put the water into that from the cherry reservoir side and because we want to replenish the water, so that it can come in this year, the total system storage is 61 and a half percent right now. and so, these numbers are you know going to be steadily changing as we get into the fall and as we look forward to what kind of precipitation that we are going to be getting in september, we will come to the commission with an out look for the future of how we expect to operate the system. through the next year, and potentially the years after that if it continues to be dry. and on the precipitation front, the st
