had ourrancisco, we apple reporter tim higgins. emily, what are we expecting after the bell? emily: a lot of questions and i don't know if they will all be answered. not a lot of information about the watch. there are some analyst reports out there suggesting that they sold 3 million in the last quarter. i don't think we will get that kind of clarity from apple. we may get some clues about how the watch is selling. one of the things that we will be talking about is a new survey out that 97% of people who bought the watch are satisfied with it, which is more positive than some thought. i have been wearing mine, i do not wear it as much as i did initially read i do not feel like it gives me that much of value added, a little slow to tell the time, but it is fun for some things. i think it is all about the iphone still. i love my iphone 6. it has been the gift that keeps on giving. reliant onple is so it, but i wonder, tim, analysts point out that margin headwinds will be an issue with apple watch. this is really the case with whatever new product apple introduces, a margin head

we have with us our bloomberg news reporter tim higgins, who covers apple from san francisco.do we know about how the watch has been selling? what new details are we expecting? tim: they have been pretty clear they are not going to release sales results for the watch. it will be in with "other." it will be looked at closely to try to get an indication of how the watch has been doing. emily: it leads one to believe maybe they are not doing that well. frank: i think apple is a conservative company. they don't want to talk about something less than a full quarter's worth of sales. they also want time to that just how people are adapting to it, so they can build -- time to adjust to how people are adapting to it, so they can build a storyline. emily: there is a report out of kgi that apple iphone sales are going to fall this quarter. >> we have seen it suggested that iphone sales are going to rise. emily: this would be a painful sales drop. what's your take on the sales report? >> when we look at the big picture, we expect uplift from the iphone 6 to play out over two years. it wo

i want to bring in our apple reporter tim higgins, looking more deeply at the numbers.lso a ceo of a research firm focused on the chinese consumer. tim, they sold a lot of iphones yet they are selling far more than every phonemaker out there. why are analysts slow down -- so down? tim: a lot because they are setting expectations for this quarter to the holiday season. analysts are looking for a lot of extra growth to help their thesis that the company can continue to seek record growth going into next year with the iphone 6, or 6s plus as we expect it to be named. emily: let's talk about the watch. tim cook was so effusive about how the watch was doing. tim: the watch did exceed our expectations. they did so despite supply still trailing demand in the end of the quarter. to give you additional insight, through the end of the quarter the apple watch sale was higher than the comparable watch period of the original iphone or ipad. emily: if the watch is doing so well, it brings us back to why won't they tell us how many they sold? according to bloomberg data, it's looking

here to talk about apple's not so shiny quarter and its impact on broader markets is tim higgins who covers the company from san fran and mike reagan to get some perspective. as we were talking about a few moments ago, this is a company that just reported record profit. china sales up over 80%, revenue up 33%, cash at $200 billion. is this not the most confounding reaction to a great earnings report? tim: it is almost classic apple. they beat expectations the shares soar and the rare occasion they do not meet expectations they get punished in the market. part of it gets to the investor belief and looking at these numbers to say how the iphone line is going to do over the next 18 months or so. there is concern that iphone sales have peaked at record levels and this is only downhill. betty: what are the indications? have they peaked?\ tim: the company sees a lot of potential in china. they feel like there is a large percentage of people who own old iphones but have not upgraded and they say they are turning android customers at a great level. they feel there is a lot left in the produc
