joining us is abbey hodder, a sophomore at oxford high school. shatter. what happened next? >> after that i was a little bit confused, but i was under the impression that some glass had shattered in the chemistry rooms next door to us because it is an average thing to happen. but soon after i heard what sounded like pops, so i was still a little confused. then i saw my teacher run out and see -- i don't know exactly what happened, but then i heard him initiate our night lock system, and then the next thing i knew i was helping barricading doors with our tables that we have in the rooms. >> wow. and that's something you have -- i talked to another student, a senior earlier this evening, who said that he had been through multiple trainings of that. you're a sophomore. you have been through these trainings as well? >> yes, we have been -- i think we have been through these trainings since around seventh or eighth grade. and that's -- i didn't really comprehend what was going on, but once we started pushing, like, tables i kind of understood what was

the militants have banned most girls from attending high school. but in a rare act of defiance some underground schools are springing up, classes being held in secret. this is an incredible thing to witness. there are a dozen girls here, all teenagers. at the moment, they are doing math and they're also learning english. a whole bunch of other subjects. the kind of things that everyone's kids take for granted. that every parent takes for granted, the rights for their children. but they only way they can do it is in secret, in private, and risking the wrath of the taliban. this is illegal. why are you running a school and risking everything? >> translator: our girls were just sitting at home, the teacher says. i was shocked, i felt like i'd lost part of my body and i thought, i have to do something. >> reporter: are you worried about coming to school? >> a little. a little. >> reporter: you're worried a little bit. >> yes. >> reporter: why, because of the taliban? >> because of taliban. >> reporter: but why do you come? >> i want to become a good do

i offer the same advice that they did that they did a high school student when i talked to them today is to think about it strategically pick a major early on and take a major based on what you think is going to be suited to making a career in not because you are just trying to discover yourself are trying to find a new path or hobby for life. in other words think of way to get through college efficiently. one thing i would have done in high school i would have taken more dance placement classes w continuing dual credit classes at a local community college to knock the general requirements out of the way people we find is these are one of the major computers that cost to college today or you are spending 1.5 to two years of your college experience taking gen ed classes and paying full tuition. this is a heavy expanse. something you can get out of if you started in high school with advanced placement with dual credit enrollment. you enter into college with your jen adds out of the way and you can jump right into your major and graduate a year-to-year and a half early. phillip magness i

as well as the high school. in a statement the police spokesperson said they take the cases seriously. and devote resources immediately. but didn't address the mother's actual complaints. high school principal sent at statement saying they knew about a criminal and child protective investigation. last spring. months before her arrest. but the information was limited. so it was kept confidential. after she was charged. the school sent an e-mail to parents and wrote a letter to city counsel. holding hosts accountable for under age drinking. these mothers say actions should have been taken much earlier. >> we're taught to talk the police. and our school cares about children. they failed us. and a lot of children were hurt in the process. and they need to be held accountable for that. >> i personally spoke with the attorney today. he says right now they have no comment. >> just watching this. i know a lot of parents there. they are so frustrated and angry about the story. what's the general sense of the community? >
