they want to solve the shooting death of a hiker at a popular walking trail monday night. deputies released these photos of a man and a woman. they are considered persons of interest in this case. they responded by surveillance camera at a convenience store in fairfax. now, there was a third person with to two of them. his image was too blurry to make any identification. investigateors are looking into whether those three people may be connected to the killing of 67-year-old hiker steven carter. he was gunned down monday night along with his dog at a trail near sir francis drake boulevard. his doberman pinscher was wounded, but the dog survived. the neighbors are stunned by that shooting. >> i would never expect something like that to happen on the hiking trail around here. i have lived here for 38 years and never heard of anything like that. >> now, the shooting victim was a relationship therapist. he lived in lay county up until last year. he and his wife were staying with friends in marin county while she was having treatment for cancer. the motive for the killing still

now three separate groups of hikers report they were chased by a bear. in one case, the bear stood on its hind legs and took a swing at a hiker. they're ramping up for the winter season and hibernation season. they're hungry, and they're looking for food. >> reporter: fish and wildlife officials believed they caught the bear that chased those hikers. because of its aggressive behavior, they euthanized it. >> it's a sha home the bear had to be euthanized. most of the time i like to see it trapped and re-released somewhere. >> reporter: but the park won't reopen until officials are sure it was the only bear threatening hikers. they've set up traps in the park to capture other bears. sightings are becoming more widespread across new jersey, and they're popping up in places they'vnever been seen before. but long-time residents here are us med to bear encounters. they're hoping their neighbors are allowed to stay. >> you make a noise or wave your hands, and they'll amble off, but they're in no hurry to get away. >> usually they'll look at you, annid as long a

jean: new developments tonight in the search for a missing hiker. authorities have found a body in the gale river in bethlehem that looks like the woman they've been searching for. claire marie cocuzzo was last seen september 29 but wasn't reported missing until wednesday. as heather hamel reports, search crews spent the past two days looking for her until they made a grim discovery earlier today. reporter: searchers are only on the ground for three hours before they found a body it on the banks of a river. the medical examiner was taken into the mountains by atv, this cocuzzo reported her missing. the 64-year-old massachusetts woman takes an annual hike in the white mountains, her family thought she was going last week, but some people saw her at the gale head hut on saturday night trouble. after her employer reported that she hadn't come to work following the columbus day holiday, her family called officials, her car was found and a search was initial naited. the night before she left the hut was a rainy one, more than two and a half inches fell.

they were unable to save the hiker. conservation officers assisted a hiker who became sick this morning on mount washington. a 22-year-old woman from maine was hiking up the ammonoosuc ravine trail just before noon when she felt ill. she was able to hike down the mountain with help from officers and her boyfriend. she was taken to a local hospital for treatment. it' s a murder that' s gone unsolved for five years. in 2010, police found the body of 53-year-old lynne brennan in her manchester home. wmur' s mike cronin joins us live with how her family is still searching for answers. reporter: it was five years ago today that lynne brennan' s body was found, but it is unclear how she was killed. her brother does not know there were many details. it has been five years since his sister was murdered, but time has not healed the void felt by rudy melk. >> it has been awful. sorry. reporter: on october 11, 2010, brennan was found in her apartment in manchester. her death was ruled a homicide, died. no arrests have been made. >
