you play hildy good. who is hildy? was the chance for me to tell a story of an older woman from her point of view, who is very funny, who we meet at a very delicate time in her life when her husband has left her, kids have sent her to rehab, she's losing her business, and she's feeling very pissed off. so she looks at the camera, and she tells you exactly what she's thinking. >> stephen: in the middle of scene, she breaks the fourth wall. >> yes. and it felt very natural, because hildy-- like we all do-- has a public face, keeping it all together, successful, taking care of ther family. and every now and then she just lets her hair down, and she says, "can you believe the ( bleep )-- i'm so sorry.
