this is mainly east bay hills here now. i have been watching this persistent band across 580, a break thankfully. places like fremont and union city, we've got issues on 880. we will hear from justin andrews in a second. as long as we are not getting rain that's at least somewhat helpful to the situation. we have good rain through san mateo. 101, you've got rain. keep that in mind as you take the drive on the san mateo commute up and down the peninsula. then there is good rain along 37 in the north bay. 101 has rain through novato. it's been consistent into napa as well. that band has been running over the same locations in the north bay. plan on that too if you are hitting the road. thankfully you go north on 101 through the rest of sonoma, you are getting a break. you will see light rain over the next hours. that's 7:30, maybe more rain working its way across southern sonoma. once we go to 10:00, it really does look better. it just didn't clear fast enough for our monday morning commute. what i have done is i have listed

one of the bay area's worst disasters as we near the 30th anniversary of the oakland and berkeley hills fire. this is ktvu fox two news at six. good evening. i'm greg lee in tonight for frank somerville. and i'm julie julie haener. what weather system is moving into the bay area at this hour. ktvu chief meteorologist bill martin is tracking the storm. bill. what's it looking like? we're just starting to get rain on the golden gate bridge. now rain is showing up at sfo in the north may as well take a look behind me and you'll see the live picture and it's just starting to sprinkle out there. we did get up to a half inch of rain up around point arena on the coastal sections there in marin county. we've already seen up to 500 to 1/10 of an inch of rain. most of us in the next hour or two, could see anywhere from 500 to attend. to a quarter of an inch of rain. so really really good news out there as you look at the live picture, let's take a peek at the system as it sits now, and the thing to note with this is it's not the only one. all right. there's look at that thing sitting out there th

a wind advisory in effect for the north bay hills, east bay hills in the east bay valleys that goes into effect in the next well right now, right? yeah 11 o'clock and the rest of the bay area. it goes into effect tomorrow morning. the strongest winds are going to essentially be late tonight. early tomorrow morning. there's the red flag warning. gus could easily make 60 miles an hour up in the hills. the wind direction i've been talking about it, i suspect because there's so much north in this wind. it's not north. it's not. this is typically an offshore wind right and that's typically are fire danger that direction would be northeast. these winds are going to be more like this. and so what that means is you're going to get funneling down through the central valley, right? it's going to go right to the low lying area and it's going to be hemmed in by the sierra nevada and the coastal hills or in the. sierra nevada, and so you're going to see some very strong winds gusting through their eyes suspect sacramento because he gusts of 50 miles an hour down at sea level will see gusts up to 60 m
