, hillary.is because there were a lot of concerns inside the clinton camp that she was going to lose this state. she has edged out senator sanders in a decisive victory. the reason why it's significant, chris, because of what we've been talking about all afternoon, the fact that this is a larger, more diverse state, latinos, african-americans voting in bigger numbers. it underscores that secretary clinton does have a strong following in those voters and it raises serious questions about senator sanders' viability with those groups. now, he has been aggressively reaching out to african-americans ahead of south carolina. but she has a big lead there. the other reason this is significant, it restores the momentum that she lost in new hampshire. it was a devastating loss. this brings her back on a somewhat equal if not larger footing moving forward as they head to south carolina and those all-important super tuesday states, chris. >> let me push you on this. where has hillary clinton been the last s

hillary clinton was actually in alabama today. she touched down in south carolina a short time ago ahead of this key primary tonight. you know, she and aides are pretty relaxed about this idea that they are going to secure a win here. but make no mistake, they are watching the spread. what they would really love to see is hillary clinton give bernie sanders a shellacking like he gave her in new hampshire. they feel like if she can achieve that they will be well positioned to open up a big lead coming into super tuesday by the end of super tuesday by about 100 delegates over bernie sanders. that's their aim at this point. if she can win and best bernie sanders by as much as 22 points that is something, wolf, that will be sweeter than the strawberry cupcakes that hillary clinton bought baut in birmingham, alabama, today, which i understand were promptly devowed by her staff xh has spent many, many hours on the ground here in super tuesday states, wolf. >> brianna keilar with the hillary clinton campaign. jeff zeleny with the sanders

: and 20% for hillary clinton. let's break down the numbers. so sam bleiweis for that. >> sam: this is to be expected. we expected the board to light up for hillary clinton and this is exactly what we are seeing. the first couple of counties to report around here. the first county that i saw was this county. and keep in mind that a lot of these are going to be absentee at this point. those are the numbers coming in right now and they say ze ro percent of precincts. horry county, you can see that hillary clinton leads with almost 1,000 votes in horry county from the upstate toward greenville. you can see, again, mostly absentee ballots. all absentee ballots here. hillary leading with 2500 votes at this point. bernie sanders trailing her at this point under 1,000 votes. so this is the story that we are going to see, and i think we are going to continue to see as this -- as this map will mostly light up for hillary we will wait to see if there are any of these counties for bernie sanders, but we will wait and see, daw

hillary clinton used no such wording. and now late tonight, we have something of a protest from the sanders campaign. our correspondent traveling with the sanders campaign with us by telephone. explain what's going on? >> reporter: good evening. we just got off the bus. we're about to board the sanders charter to new hampshire, but there's some concern bubbling about 90 precincts the iowa democratic party did not staff 90 of these precincts. this is on background from campaign aides that they are being asked to help with the count. of course, it's not clear exactly what that means. the sanders campaign is not clear on what they're being expected to contribute, whether or not this count will be done fairly and of course with the margin what it is i think we might be able to show our viewers just how close the number of delegates that we're talking about here. these represent about 5% of the precincts still outstanding and that number has not moved over the course of the last hour or so. of course with the race potentially

across the room on this side is the hillary group.se guys right now are talking to the chair of the caucus, the undecided voters are talking to the chair of the caucus. again, she is from nebraska, an official from the state party there. they are lobbying with everything they can to get these one, two, three, four voters that are remaining here as undecideds over to their side. i don't know if this is the most efficient process for democracy. >> are the women, mainly older women, going with hillary? is there a pattern like that? >> reporter: it's a very diverse group on both sides, to be totally honest with you, chris. if you look across, these are not monolithic groups in any sense of the word. everybody is here, and like i said, they're all together. but they are not certainly one group one way or the other. and again, undecideds are still talking, they're smiling, clearly enjoying this. i want to point out one thing. this is in my opinion quite a messy way to do this. in iowa, even though the caucuses are a messy situation there as

hillary clinton's camp just e-mailing out a statement saying quote, hillary clinton has won the iowa on to say after thorough reporting and analysis there is no uncertainty and secretary clinton has clearly won the most national and state delegates. that is what clinton's camp is saying. no word yet from sanders' camp. we'll let you know when we have more. ben, this all happens in a state where 43% of the democratic caucus-goers describe themselves as socialists. let's not forget that. >> i do think that it is important. there is one thing we have to look at tonight. there is a big debate on trust with hillary clinton. there has been. most people are saying with just republicans to are bringing this up, it's just republicans that are making benghazi and the e-mail and the server everything an issue. and these polls saying we do not trust hillary clinton. you can't say this is now just a republican or democrat talking point or fight. there are truly democrats now and the majority of them in iowa, and i think moving forward and this may be her vulnerability, is this they don't trust he

and bernie sanders winning them 50% to hillary clinton 46%.ok at non-white voters, this is 40% of the electorate. hillary clinton winning them by 9 points over bernie sanders, 53% to 44%. so dana and wolf, remember, a 60% white electorate, so more diverse than eight years ago. it was 65% eight years ago. and you see the split here. you see that he is winning white voters by a little bit. not nearly by as big of a margin she is winning non-white voters. the one caveat. among non-white voters, we are seeing him right now in the entrance polls doing better among hispanic voters than hillary clinton. and we're waiting for more information but still when you pool all of the non-white voters together she is winning by 9 points. >> that's interesting. as i toss back to you, wolf, there was a new phenomenon in the caucuses this year, there was a telecaucus which allowed people abroad, military people stationed outside nevada, members of the peace corps, diplomatic corps, they caucused and bernie sanders won that according to the nevada democrats. >> v
