this six-inch water main is on hillsborough boulevard and temporarily closed the road. it is expected to reopen any minute now. pg&e has been struggling with power outages all day. here are the latest numbers. more than 1,600 customers on the peninsula are currently without power. in the north bay 825 customers in the dark. 33 customers in the south bay are affected and 109 customers in the east bay. >>> and taking a live look at san francisco international airport, where airlines are still recovering from a long day of delays brought in by cloudy skies and strong winds. some arriving flights at sfo saw delays of up to three hours. departures saw an average delay of 45 minutes. dozens of short haul flights were canceled. delays at oakland and mineta san jose were much less severe. flights saw delays of 20 minutes at most. in the sierra it is snow that's slowing down travel along some of the roadways up there. this is highway 50 at twin bridges and el dorado county. chain restrictions are in effect on 50 between here and meyers. chains are also required on 80 between kin

watch out in hillsborough, san mateo, belmont, redwood city, showers impacting the second half of yourng commute there. it moved through half moon bay already. we are looking at five straight days with measurable rainfall. that has not happened since just after thanksgiving two years ago, november 28 through december 2. so it has been a long time since we have been this wet. but i say perfect timing because we need the rainfall. here's the setup in the atmosphere. that big ridge of high pressure which was blocking everything for months causing the drought has now moved into the perfect spot to now steer the storms right into the bay area. we have one moving through tonight and to remember. storm 2 is the more significant one down by hawaii. and that's where we'll start because when the jet stream dips down there, it gets juicy. it picks up tropical moisture. we'll be taking into the tropics coming up on friday and saturday. then that low pressure system hops aboard the train tracks in the atmosphere of the jet stream and it's going to be raining here heavily at times both saturday and

john fowler is live in hillsborough where more rain is on the way. >> reporter: thanks rosemary.xpect more. let me show you what the russian river is doing right now. this is the wettest it's been in months. just four days ago you could literally walk across this river without getting your feet wet. now it's really roaring. not expected to crest above flood stage, but as you said, there are flood warnings for the smaller streams in sonoma county and in napa county. because of the incredible runoff that's happening right now. this is good news for the drought because it will recharge the aquifer here for 600,000 people who need this water. we also have been watching fish. in just the last few minutes we have seen trout swim right up here and go right over that berm going upstream. so we do know this is also good news for the trout. the cloudier the water, the faster they will move. at this moment, the sun is beginning to break. that's good because that will allow the soil to dry just a little bit and prevent some of those flash floods. but we are watching for that right now, and w
