the national park sits at the foot of the himalayas. we're heading up a river that runs through the heart of this wild life sankctuary. we find what we are looking for, easily identified by their long narrow snout the gharial. the gharial is one of the largest in the crocodile order and also endangered. fishing nets have pushed this species to the brink of extinction. these crocodiles feed on river fish hunters skilled in speed and stout. it's time to eat. the gharial subamericans and sets up an ambush. perfectly still. a passing fish fails to notice. this prey never saw it coming. thanks to its narrow shape, the snout cuts sideways through the water in lightning speed. once it captures a fish the crock dime rises to the surface to eat. sharp teeth make this quick work. having to learn more we talked to people in a nearby village. they tell us something intriguing. >> gharials make a sound like boom. >> reporter: the staff at this breeding facility are working to protect reptiles. we are keen to hear this strange sound the villagers spo
