on wednesday night the hoboken council gathered at their meeting.councilman shortly before the meeting began to ask why the resolution to release him was coming up at this moment. >> he was served with a document subpoena on march 13th and this is the first opportunity that the council has to consider a resolution to waive that privilege. >> it's true. according the a letter on pril 2nd they say quote we've been advised that that on or about march 13th, 2014 his law firm has been subpoenaed to produce documents to a federal grand jury. the waiver of attorney-client privilege would be just to the allegations. michael russo shares with us what he's been hearing from the hoboken residents >> a lot of the questions that keep coming up here are what took so long for us to really get moving with the whole situation, why did the mayor wait so long. now with this attorney-client privilege issue, the real question is not so much why did the mayor wait but why did our attorney wait. >> joe was not at the council meeting on wednesday to answer the question but

one that has to do with the mayor of hoboken, dawn zimmer.hey privately said it was linked to her willingness to go forward with a major development in hoboken, the rockefeller project. a project represented by the law firm of one of christie's closest confidants. now zimmer made the allegations on this network back in january. specifically she accused christie's lieutenant governor of pulling her aside after an event in a shop right supermarket in hoboken a year ago in may and explicitly linking sandy money to the development project. >> the fact is that the lieutenant governor came to hoboken. she pulled me aside in the parking lot. she said i know it's not right. i know these should not be connected. but they are, and if you tell anyone, i'll deny it. >> she also said a similar message was displayed to her later. zimmer and constable were seated next to each other on stage last may for a televised hall about sandy recovery. zimmer documented the conversation she had with constable just before the program started in a contemporaneous diary

the report was very dismissive of the allegations with respect to the hoboken mayor. we remember that about the report. but there's also this reference in the report to christine renna saying don't bend over backwards to help the hoboken mayor. that kind of issue is something that if you connect it to everything else, if you've got some proof, that's good stuff. and then you have this overlay of a culture, of a mentality of trying to keep it below the radar, but make sure that people, mayors, whoever, gets a message, no fingerprints, but still a message. that kind of thing would definitely fuel a theory if indeed they have the specific evidence of actual knowledge on the part of christie, and some pretty good witnesses with credibility to establish it. >> then talk about the frame of mind here, the vindictiveness of them versus us attitude. the hateful speech that surrounded christie. his communication aide, drewniak. i could clause david wildstein's eyes out, pour gasolines in the sockets and light them up. he also commented on a reporter for a newspaper up there for

the alleged threat to withhold superstorm sandy aid to hoboken over a real estate development deal sought bay client of sampson's law firm and a myriad conflict of other interests. the subpoenas were reportedly issued last month, the same month that david sampson tendered his rez neigh, saying in a statement, over the past months i have shared with the governor my desire to conclude my service to the port authority. the timing is now right and i am confident that the governor will put new leadership in place to address the many challenges ahead. indeed, there are many challenges indeed. today brought word of another resignation. nbc has confirmed what was first reported by "the wall street journal," that longtime port authority commissioner anthony sartor, who has long-chaired the agency's subcommittee on world trade center development, submitted his resignation today. all of them comes amid the latest development in the legislative supercommittee's investigation. the law firm hired by christie's office to execute an internal review has just this afternoon released its interview memoranda

and if you want to, you can hide behind the attorney-client privilege on the hoboken matter.his investigation was about something in which he had no client. >> you know, this report is so -- there are so many holes and gaps in it. let me just tell you one small story. they cover in the report, they mention that i wrote a letter on september 19th raising this issue. the way the report depicts it is i wrote a letter to the port authority complaining. actually, i wrote the letter to one commissioner in the port authority, commissioner pat shuber. i don't think i was complaining. i was asking questions. would you please tell me what happened here? and the report omits that i copied the governor and david samson on that letter. that's never mentioned. so they mention a letter way back on september 19th, but they omit a very i think important part of that document. did the governor get it? did somebody in his office get it? did anybody suggest they look into it? >> because the governor in that report wants to insist that the governor's not aware of what's going on. >> of anything.
