but what do you know of soon to be governor hochul?well, when she was at andrew cuomo's side, she but eutenant governor who largely serves as a spokesperson, not a lieutenant governor who has been a public credit. but before that, we know she was fairly conservative. she was a bank lobbyist before she became lieenant governor. when i rein in 2014, my runnin mate was tim wu, who rafor lieutenant governor and pointed out she was opposed to driver's licenses for undocumented immigrants. she has changed her position on that. there is bit of a blank slate here. it has been a long time since she has run on her own platform, but i think what is critical here is -- cap the hogle ani do not share the same -- kathy hochul and i do not share the same politics. but i believe kathy hochul will not abu her position of power. i don't think she will use threats, abusers staffers come and that we need to take this moment to transform the deeply corrupt and usive and toxic culture of albany. and i would be pushing her to be -- lead as a progressive gove

hochul said in an interview there are presumed and confirmed deaths people should know both.r this week, cuomo's administration was releasing death totals from the state's internal system, people who were confirmed covid hospital and died in a nursing home or in a hospital facility. the undercounting is a criticism that plagued the cuomo administration which has been accused of reporting that conservative number of deaths in the state to keep that number low comparative to the rest of the country. the discrepancy in numbers also, of course, goes back to that march 25th, 2020, directive when cuomo issued an order telling nursing homes they couldn't deny admission of covid-positive or presumed patients. he revised it weeks later. but the argument is that it contributed to spreading the virus among the state's most vulnerable. this is a new trigger, this number, for many new yorkers as cuomo is no longer in office and hochul is promising transparency. i am told by at least one family they want accountability for what they see as a massive failure by the cuomo in addition to the

what do we know about kathy hochul. >> reporter: yeah, like you said she is prepared? she has been preparing we're told by sources ever since that report came out last week, talking to her staff, talking to people who have served in this position before trying to figure out what staff she may keep, what staff may need to go, how she is going to continue governing this state that was hit so hard during the pandemic, is still going through the pandemic. so this is something that she has really been doing her studying on, at least within the last week or so. but she has been by the governor's side as the lieutenant governor since 2014, and she, we're told, has really been a lawmaker who has been at every level of government from the local level to now being the highest office in the state of new york. so there is a lot of welcoming presence for a woman especially to be the first woman to lead this state, but i also want to point out, victor, something my colleague pointed out. this will now be three women with major leading roles in the state of new york once she takes of
