here with meteorologist mike hoffman. we've been watching on the drought monitors, areas in texas and louisiana really dry. but do you think some hope this week. yea, we talked about this over the weekend. w wre still looking later in the week something in the western gulf. probably not a tropical system but something with a lot of moisture in it. right now though we're just seeing a few showers in the western gulf. some of those will be trickling into parts of tx the next couple of days. high pressure dominating the southeast,the ohio valley, tennessee valley most of central and southern plains keeping england to central portions of great lakes causing some scattered showers in that ara. and a fair amount of moisture in the 4 corners region as you can see. a slow moving area of low pressure continues to move thru that area, so we'll be watching that systeteas well. so let's put the maps into motion through the day tonight and into tomorrow morning, you can see the cold front by morning into central iowa. not a lot of moi

meteorologist mike hoffman here. mike we're kinda watching the coldest weather of the season coming from the north. but out on the west coast, maybe some rain? yea, in fact, perhaps some decent amounts in places. but not widespread at this point. and it's being caused by that area of low pressure sitting off the southwest coast over the past couple of days. it's going to finally start to move inland a little bit and it'll increase moisture over southern cali, central cali into arizona and other parts of the 4 corner region. farther east, the area of low pressure movi9ng thru the upper great lakes will cause some decent areas of showers , but you'll notice a strong cold front has almost no moisture along it. it's following an air mass that's already very dry which is probably the reason. and you can see far south florida still getting that front slipping on thru which will cause a couple spots of showers or thunderstorms perhaps as well. there's tomorrow morning, showers from the northern great lakes into new england,

're still learning about the aftermath from the extensive flooding in south carolina earer this month. these pictures are from watts farms in williamsburg county. the area received two crops down the river. they said they've never seen anything like it, and it will still be a couple weeks until they know the extent of the damage. the south carolina "nass" office shows just 17-percent of the peanut crop is harvested. it's usually about half by now. and ron had quite the help harvesting in east central illinois last week. he told us soybean harvest is in the books for 2015. yields were pretty impressive, ranging 65 to 80 bushels per acre. and now that they're halfway done with corn, it shows just how variable the crop is this year. ron says his fields are anywhere from 144 to 225 bushels per acre. thanks, mike. a new w udy has some scieieists calling for the removal of growth promotants in the global livestock stor. a study from the proceedings of the national academy of sciences shows

with more from around the e untry country mike hoffman joins us with cropwatch. good morning clinton. at this time of year, fid fires can quickly spread out of contro we heard about a quick thinking farmer in southcentral illinois who saved the "posting" on agweb, a farmer in scott county, illinois activated the pivots using his smartphone from miles away to help knock down flames. a neighbor also arrived with a disc to cut a fire-break. that papa of illinois is considered abnormally dry on the drought monitor. also on agweb -winter wheat seed isn't getting enough moisture to germinate. we heard from a farmer in montgomery county, missouri who says after the wettest spring e er, seed wheat just is just sitting. and this scenic view comes from northern st. joseph county indiana. you can see some of the foliage is starting to turn into those ll hues. others still have plenty of green. temperatures dipped below freezing over the weekend. and taking a look at the weather map today a big dome of high pressure keeping things mostly dry from the south east to the southe

grow smart with basf d get the most hoffman. mike, we've kind of had a pretty nice fall to start the year. but it's going to get colder. yeah, that next cold front coming into montana, that will spread through most of the corn belt. that will bring that chilly air. but even near in front of it,it's a little on the cool. although with all the pleasant weather we've seen recently, it's kind of making it near normal for most of the northern-central plains. even into the southeast today. you can see little moisture going on. a few spotty showers in northern florida and a few spotty showers or drizzle in parts of the northern or eastern great lakes into parts of new england. other than that, it's perfectly dry across the country. we will be watching this area of low pressure off the south-west coast. but it's just not making a whole lot of progress. it will throw moisture to southern and central california though the next couple of afternoons. some folks will get some much-needed rains. just not as widespread and nothing real heavy.
