take a look at the north into hokkaido, 15 centimeters of snowfall currently on the ground.he key thing about this location is that this is upwards about 36 days earlier than normal for this amount of snowfall. a little bit higher farther inland, but you typically snowfall in the higher elevations, but this is extremely earlier. i want to show you what it looks like farther inland where the heavy snowfall is taking place, but at that one location, just a little fact about that since it is so early and actually record breaking. in the earliest snowfall since the record began in 1892 all, but ushered in by the cold air wrapped around behind wipha here and the residents were caught off guard by this very intense and heavy snowfall. it's not just here in japan we're seeing this be onning toner snow, though. i also want to show you what's going on in tibet where 116 touristses have been rescued from a base camp from a tourist attraction. tourists included about 25 overseas citizens. more than 40 rescuers and heavy machinery was required to clear the way after the snowfall surpass

we'll be bringing in rough seas, high waves and heavier showers, too, to parts of eastern hokkaido on tuesday, but as it moves away those will start to diminishi diminish and things will be settled across japan. however, there will be another system and this one, on the other hand, is just starting to switch up again. this one is fito which has become a severe tropical storm and it's heading into hokkaido -- sorry, heading into okinawa, i should say and heading into the islands over the weekend with very heavy rain. we're starting to model start to curve further toward the west so it could be impacting portions of southeastern china, and also, of course, taiwan and waiting to see what this storm is going do as it develops. looking quite wet across indochina across the monsoon and up toward the philippines and up to the north and much of china, too, things will be quite dry and pleasant. temperatures in the mid-20s as well as beijing, shanghai and chongqing. down toward the south we will see some more thunderstorms in the tropics and temperatures in the low 30s. on into the americas. q

heavy rain will be continuously moving in the way toward hokkaido and northern japan will also be in the bulk of this very heavy rainfall. so really stormy weather tomorrow throughout the day into the noon and afternoon hours. and i must tell you there's a low-pressure system over near the marianna islands over water. this is likely to intensify into a tropical depression status. another tropical development for us to keep an eye on. this is another storm system that has made landfall over central vietnam. this morning, gusts are packing 126 kilometers per hour. it is going to be winding down as the system moves over land, but the heavy rain will be conning to pound especially coastal regions in eastern idnochina peninsula. this area is very well saturated with the previous storm moving through and lingering here for about a week. so any additional rain could cause flooding and landslides. another storm to talk about across this area, too. we have storm system called octave, a tropical storm status. wind speeds, 65 kilometers per hour. look like it will be dying down. but as a low-pr

frost advisories over towards hokkaido. what this will be doing, as it moves to the east, it will start to bring in warmer air around the southern periphery of it. also rain showers towards tokyo by sunday, you'll be seeing rain showers out here as well. northeastern china and korea, dry weather in place for much of this area. i want to talk about the tropics into the indochina peninsula and vietnam. we have seen heavy showers out here. about 160 millimeters in vietnam here in the past 24 hours. you've been looking at flooding out there after typhoon nari came onshore back on monday. still some pretty serious conditions. over toward the americas, one system is moving off to the northeast, another one coming in from the west. this one is actually bringing snowfall in toward the rockies, and the northern plains and western portions of the great lakes. that's going to push through, work its way toward the east. behind it, cold air is ushering in from the north. we'll see temperatures drop down with snow flurries in a few areas

as it moves toward hokkaido and picking up the high waves along coastal regions. it's also bringing some tropical moisture surging to the system and the heavy sudden burst of showers coulbe likely anywhere across the eastern half of the pacific coast. the tropical moisture in the radiation cooling will combine and make dense fog across the country. that will be making visible less than 500 meters. very difficult for shipping and operating aircrafts. down below, see another formation, the storm we have been tracking. it is a severe tropical status as of now. looks like it will be intensifying over the warm water any time soon. already packing gusts of 126 kilometers per hour. by the time it reaches okinawa ilsds, it looks like it will be gusting about 200 kilometers per hour and it is going to be intensified as a strong typhoon status in the near future. we'll keep a very close eye on this as this will be dumping heavy rain across the southwestern islands of japan as well. to the north of that, high pressure will be predominant, and the korean peninsula will finall

one reason is because we have a low pushing across hokkaido. that will really pull farther off to the north. also we have our typhoon lekima continuing to weaken. this is also going to act as a pole pulling francisco quickly away from the coastline. as far as the direct impact from this storm system, it's a very strong one bringing the winds out here to the islands. it's not going to be directly hitting the coastline, staying well offshore. that's typical for october typhoons. usually by this time of year, they remain well offshore. remember, with wipha, that actually came near the coastline. just prior to that, we had another storm system push off here. now we have francisco pulling off as well. we take a look at the climatology, by this time it should be further off toward the east. with lekima happening, now we start to see the strong westerly winds come in. we've also seen snowfall off to the north. so i think we're going to start to see the typhoons weighing down farther to the north. if anything develops, more than likely it will be farth
