hollande's ratings have gone up from 21% to 40%. let's go live now to paris. our correspondent, james reynolds is there. james, when the attacks in paris happened, i was presenting that day and we were all struck by just how quickly president hollande was at the scene of those "charlie hebdo" offices, within literally 30 35 minutes or so. and now it looks like his popularity has gone up so much because of that reaction. >> indeed. this is a record rise in the poles. he was at the time of those attacks, on just 19% approval rating. that was the lowest recorded approval rating. he's now jumped 21 points to 40%. essentially, that's got him back to where he was about a year or so ago. but i think a lot of people here, political commentators here, are a little bit cautious about that huge jump in the polls, because not just in france, but in other countries, we often see a huge short bounce in the poles for leaders in the aftermath of crisis or tragedy, as the nation rallies around. i think the bigger test for mr. hollande will come in the next few weeks and months
